What did they give up for him last year? I think this time he's done.

I wonder what brilliant move their front office will make this off season. We can hope so.

they lost a fourth rounder that escalates depending on how the jets do. My guess it will be a 3rd rounder.

what's worse is that by trading for favre they made miami infinitely better. without pennington, miami is a third place team at best.

Re: So what did it cost the Jets for Favre ?

Here is a quote from nydailynews last year!

========================

It cost the Jets a conditional fourth-round pick in 2009, but the pick will escalate to a first-rounder if Favre appears in 80% of the plays and the Jets make it to the Super Bowl, according to a league source. The pick could be a second- or third-rounder depending on Favre's playing time and the Jets' performance.

The trade agreement was structured to prevent the Jets from dealing Favre to the Vikings, his No. 1 choice. The Jets would have to give three No. 1 picks to the Packers if they made such a move, a league source confirmed.

Re: So what did it cost the Jets for Favre ?

"According to the NFL Network, if Favre takes 50 percent of total snaps with the Jets in 2008, the fourth-rounder becomes a third-round pick. If he gets 70 percent of the snaps and the Jets make the playoffs, it becomes a second-round pick; and if he gets 80 percent of snaps and the Jets make the Super Bowl, it becomes a first-round pick."

There so it's 3rd round pick...

Re: So what did it cost the Jets for Favre ?

The jester front office already made their hilarious move for the season: Sexy Rexy Ryan.

It cost them at least one season with no viable QB on the horizon.

The less draft picks the better. It's the only way they'll be able to fit under the cap.

Re: So what did it cost the Jets for Favre ?

Besides draft picks there is the loss of playoff QB Pennington, and the 1 year of experience that Clemens might of had.

I hope Ryan gets fired then gets scorned by the Jets front office. That way, maybe he would want to move into the division and work under Belichick as the defensive coordinator. ;)

I like Ryan...I think the Jesters finally made a good move for themselves. I would have rather seen them get Spagnuolo (sic) from the Giants.

If Ryan is the same type of head coach as his father was, he'll be gone within three years. Personally, I think Ryan is a better defensive coordinator than a head coach. Take that with a grain of salt though because I hate the Jets and hope for them to do bad in the same manner as a homeless man HOPES he can either come across a sandwich or a beer at some point in the day.

I kind of wish Favre would have played another year for the Jets. He hasn't made a COMPLETE mockery of his career yet.

What's really funny is all of the Jets fans cheering this move. If you remember in August, it was reported that the #4 Jets jersey was being sold out all over the place. Now you can't find one Jets fan who was behind the move when it happened.

From a team standpoint, the results are obvious. From a front office stand point, the hype that came with Favre, they probably increased their merchandise sales, corporate sponsors/ad sales and ticket sales for the past season.

What did they give up for him last year?

Mangini gave up his son as a namesake.

I'm not sure which is more pathetic - Mangini luring Favre to NY by offering to name his sone after him? Or Favre for accepting?

They (Jets fans) really are a pathetic lot. They so desperately want to be part of the "in crowd" of teams that compete for the Super Bowl, that they embrace every change and view it as the road back to the place they haven't been for 40 years. Think of what's happened in 40 years. The Jets, by my count have played and lost one AFC Championship Game, played in no Super Bowls - in 40 years. The Patriots have played in AFC Championship Games in '86 '96, '02, '04, '05, '07 & '08 and gone 6-1. They've played in 6 Super Bowls and won 3 of them (in 4 years in this decade). Since 2001, the Patriots have won 13 of 16 games between the 2 teams. And this is a rivalry?

That's more of an OR than an AND.

Even so, it wasn't a good move for them.

I the minds of many Jets fans the entire Brett Farve debacle was worth it because they beat the Patriots 3rd stringers on a coin toss back in November. Rumor has it Lord Farve had a stiffy when he heard Adalius Thomas broke his arm the week before. :youtheman:

I was at the game and I couldn't get over the amount of Jester fans with their cute little number 4 jerseys mouthing off after that game as if they had won the super bowl.

They get a 7th rounder back from the Packers because he played only one year.

It cost us a 3rd round pick and thats pretty much it. Some will say well you no longer have Pennington and I view that as a blessing which I asked for years to happen. Pennington is a great guy and maximizes his talents however he will never win a SB unless surrounded by a stellar D and great run game. I would rather struggle looking for a young franchise caller or capable QB then be stuck as an average to above average team with Pennington at QB. With Favre gone we are around 13-17 mil under and can make a run at some nice additions in FA such as Leonhard or Scott

Spoken like a True Homer Fan.

Well done.

<Psst....you need a QB or you just rebuilding, and that's not what you want.>
