You cannot pick anyone ranked above the Patriots picks. So you can't choose a player ranked #22 or above and so on and so forth.

Once you've done that then you can do one with trades as long as the trades make sense from the value board.

This is just to see where people are thinking about the players there are no winners or losers. DO NOT tear into someone else picks until you have made yours. OK go to it!

I have little clue who most of these guys are. Work has definitely got in the way of my draftnikking this year.

For a guy with "little clue" you did pretty well. The first four are good values, Lewis and Vollmer are decent. Pascoe and Brinkley are athletically challenged, but they could work out. Martin may need to move to FS. Edison could be a very good WR in time. The only bust in the bunch is Baker who is a better 4-3 than 3-4 prospect, has off-field issues, and came out a year too early.

Theme is looking for players that have had success but (IMO) have dropped due to team struggles. Filled the key needs on defense and got some fresh faces for the offense.

23 - Clint Sintim: I needed to go back to the Senior Bowl game recording. This is earlier than I want to draft him, he needs to improve his technique against the run, but from SLB he won head to head battles with Michael Oher and Herman Johnson and he didn't look any worse in coverage than NE's current OLBs. He can contribute as a #3 OLB early, but I think he's headed inside to SILB in a couple years.

47 - Louis Delmas: Mike Mayock's #1 S.

58 - Connor Barwin: Raw, but a ton of upside and value added. I tried to avoid it, but I'm declaring a binky. :confused2:

89 - Jarron Gilbert: If NE gets him here it's a steal.

120 - Tyronne Green: He did a good job against B.J. Raji at the Senior Bowl.

151 - Christopher Owens: The other San Jose CB.

186 - Lee Robinson: A Gary Guyton type.

217 - Graham Gano: Good directional P and a decent PK.

After doing this I realized that we have too many draft picks. Two players in the middle of the third would be better than six players from between 89-167.

3.2- #58 Jonathan Luigs OC Arkansas: Third rated OC; athletic and strong, some say he can play guard.
4.3- #89 Jeremiah Johnson RB Oregon: He makes damn good biscuits. (Cody Brown is at 87, WTF!?!?)
5.3- #97 Rashad Johnson S Alabama: No hesitation if he is available at this pick.

I really want Brandon Pettigrew, Louis Delmas and Connor Barwin but I see some team's reaching higher then we would for all three of these guys. After the combine all could move ahead of our 47 pick and would not be their unless we got one at #23.

Three things:
1) Jordan is a UFA and has pretty much said he won't be back. The Pats also have BJGE under contract for next year.

2) Nic Harris is being projected as a LB, not a safety. LB is where he played in the Senior Bowl.'

3) Why do they need to replace Cassel? They already have O'Connell and Gutierrez?

217 - QB Curtis Painter (272) : Really stuggled senior year but quick release should translate

Seriously, I really like Painter for the same reasons you do. When the spread at Purdue was clicking, he thrived.

His senior year was a major disappointment, but I'm suspecting that was more of a reflection of the team than of Painter. I really like that he has a quick, compact throwing motion since the guys with the big windups tend to struggle in the transition to the pro's.

The sack and interception numbers are a little troubling, but as you indicate that could be addressed with a couple of years of solid mentoring and good coaching. If he checks in at a legit 6'4" and shows he can play under center, then he becomes my late round Pats QB for 2009.
