John Tomase was just on the NEST with Felger. He thinks the reason Bill B. said "We look forward to working with Matt Cassel in 2009" is because Brady's season is in doubt....and that the Pats aren't going to trade Cassel. He thinks they tagged him, because they plan on keeping him for the upcoming season.

He went on to say that he is sticking with Currans story of a month ago regarding Brady being behind schedule

Just like Tomase stuck with Walsh's story. He's an idiot.

gee I wonder how this will be taken....

Tomase is such a moron. What is BB supposed to say? "We look forward to trading Cassel to the highest bidder."

how is he a moron for stating his opinion. i dont get it. i think hes a moron for other things, but for giving an opinion that you dont agree with does not make the man a moron

oh good Brady is doing well then.

The Patriots organization knows more than anyone on this board and anyone in the media. They franchised Cassel for a reason. Brady may be behind on his recovery, just because he is walking doesn't mean he is battle ready. I hope the best for Brady but until I see him on the field, I am glad we have Cassel.

Brady was playing golf Sunday in Ca. Would he be golfing if his knee was really bad?

Exactly!!

I hope we can get though one full day tomorrow without someone trying to stir the pot with the whole Brady - Cassell - Trade saga. It is worse then a bad tabloid paper.

everyone knew cassel was going to be tagged......so nothing new today

what you have is these media people throwing every possible angle out there so that further down the line they can claim they were the ones who were right.......because nobody keeps track of how 95% of the time, these idiots are wrong

BB just franchised Cassell. You're only supposed to use that tag for indispensable players, hence the term franchise.

Also Tomase is an obese, twinkie eating, gossip columnist who should be writing reports from Britney Spears' psycho ward.

Jeeeeezus effing christmas, why the holy hades do we listen to anything this guy has to say, let along click on the Horrald web page and help put money in his pocket?

Brady is not going to be traded because he wouldnt pass a physical until it is to late. They also would not get nearly enough for him because other teams would think Brady was damaged goods. If the Patriots released Brady he would still have a 9.5 mil cap hit for 2009. So either they keep both qb's or Cassel is traded.

Funny, thinking about it, I actually think that Cassel getting tagged quickly might be to speed up him being traded. As someone said in the other thread, now the Pats can give Cassel permission to talk to other teams and get a deal done. I think the Pats will want to get Cassel traded before the start of free agency so they can have the money and know what draft picks they will have when free agency kicks in.

As for Tomase, I don't think he knows any more about the Brady situation than any of us. The guy is going to be the last in the media to get any information from anyone in the Pats' organization. His opinion doesn't hold anymore weight to me than anyone on this board.

Agreed. Why wasn't that fat flaming arsehole run out of town a year ago? His continued presence is an embarrassment to everyone but himself.

Even Curran doesn't think Brady's season is in doubt, he's said he expects Brady to play next year just that Week 1 isn't automatic.

Tomase is a doofus but we all know that.

He has a history of make moronic comments, with little factual evidence.

does this guy still work for the herald?

I do think it is a little stupid for anyone to use that line from the press release as proof that the Pats intend to keep Cassel for 2009. If I remember correctly, Belichick was adament about keeping all three safeties in Harrison, Milloy, and Tebucky in March of 2003. By September of 2003, two of the three were gone. One was by design, the other out of neccessity. I also remember the Pats saying they weren't going to trade for Randy Moss two years ago too.... About a week or two before they traded for Randy Moss.
