Mike Francessa reported on 660 WFAN New York today at around 1:05pm that he was told Brady suffered another setback earlier this week. He said that doctors are the ones who told him this. I have been trying to find other sources to confirm this, but have not found any. He did not say what type of setback, or how severe a setback he suffered if he did in fact re-injure himself.

It is clear to me now, that there is no way we are letting Cassel walk. I said it a few weeks ago and got ripped apart, but if this is true, it is obvious Cassel will be on our roster.

I don't know who this WFAN guy is, so I'll take it as suspect info for now. Some random guy on WFAN would be the last to know, I would think. Why on earth would Brady's doctors tell him anything?

As much as I have issues with Francessa he's not exactly a random guy.. he's very knowledgeable about all things NFL and seems to have alot of inside info..but.. he hates BB and all things Pats so he would relish reporting this sort of news

Does anybody know who this guy is a fan of.It sounds like another report from a Jets fan that is trying to stir up the possibility that Brady might not be ready

WFAN = one of New York's two main sports stations (the other being ESPN 1050). Francesa is their lead guy (he has a Sunday night show on NY's NBC station).

That said, with all due respect to the OP, I'm not buying this, for two reasons:
(1) Why aren't they talking about this over on JESTInsider.com? They should be positively salivating.
(2) This thread.

Re: Rumor: Tom Brady Suffered a Setback recently

the rotowire report is from 2/1, thats 3 days ago. Francessa seemed to think it happen in the past few days.

3 days ago and the past few days are the same thing.

Do you have link to audio or a transcript?

So it'd be like the Big O breaking injury news on Brady? I'm not buying it for now. If we're going to be negative about, Curran's report has much more validity than the WFAN guys rumor.

no. i was in the car listening. he basically was saying it's horrible for the NFL to have a player like this injured. he definitely said what i posted.

Not doubting you, just looking for some context.

So because Mike Francessa said this, there is no way they are trading Cassel? So one of Brady's doctors decided he didn't want to be a doctor anymore because he risks losing his medical license for divulging confidential patient records to give Francessa a scoop without any meat behind the story. So if Brady had a set back that set him back a couple of days, the Pats are going to panic and keep Cassel.

I will still be shocked if Cassel is a Patriot by the time the Mr. Irrelevant is selected come this April.

Re: Rumor: Tom Brady Suffered a Setback recently

I'm sure he'll feel much better once Cassel's trade is finished.

And hence why his report has to be taken with a grain of salt. If he hates Belichick and the Pats in general, he does have a bias which could have him overblow things.

Besides, I still go back to Adam Schefter who said that there is at least one member of the Patriots medical staff who is/was spreading rumors about Brady's injury because he/she was upset that Brady had his surgery on the West Coast.

Re: Rumor: Tom Brady Suffered a Setback recently

A little troubling, but I'm not going to worry about it until a real source corroborates it. Who would have told Francesca? Brady's doctors? Doubtful.

Please you need to give this up Cassel is gone soon. It is clear to you now that a NY Radio guy says Brady suffered a setback??? What setback did he suffer???elaborate?? Did he say who gave him this info???

We are over 6 months away from the season please!! Every time TB stub's his toe there is a thread about it and people jump on the 14 million dollar "Keep Cassel Bandwagon"

Brady will be fine:D

you are missing the point. the point is brady is obviously not getting healthy as fast as we thought. he is suffering more setbacks than we would like. you cannot trade a QB who was as successful as Cassel for draft picks. your line of thinking is absurd. you need QBs to win in this league. and as much as Oconnell might be good, he is an unknown quantity. if this report is true, theres no way we even consider trading cassell. its all speculation on both our parts, but the reasoning i am using is clearly much stronger than yours

The notion that there might be some discord between Brady and the Pats medical staff may have some validity to it. The Patriots probably don't want any info about Brady's injury out there, good or bad. They were probably content to just let the various reports sit out there - it seems like the recent movement to say Brady is doing better now came from Brady's camp, and largely was a necessity due to the fact that he has commitments and sponsorships that demand him to be out and about.

Again, you are citing one rumour from a NY talk show host when last week's news from more reputable sources said he was doing fine. It seems like you're just trying to prove a point to validate your opinion in the other thread at this point.

Even if Brady had a setback, they are still probably going to trade Cassel.

Re: Rumor: Tom Brady Suffered a Setback recently

Francessa has co owned racehorses with Bill PArcells, he is pretty well connected and not prone to sensationalism.

I hope he is wrong on this.
