Peyton Manning is considered "3rd" in most peoples eyes now!

Do you agree with this?

1 Super Bowl ring = puts you on temporary life support, in terms of being immune to criticism from the media, fans, et al.

2 Super Bowl rings = THE mansion

Pt being that both Colts and Giants fans are SLOWLY coming back out of the woodwork now in questioning their QBs. They're not doing it as much as they did during their pre-SB years, but the old shades are coming back out.

However-QBs who have TWO OR MORE rings usually get that permanent free pass.

Isn't this a "pick your poison" question?

I don't know that the results of this Super Bowl is a positive. Now Pats fans will not only hear from Colts fans / Pats haters that Peyton Manning is better than Brady, but we will also hear from Steeler fans / Pats haters that Roethlisberger is better, or at least more clutch than Brady (and that the Steelers are superior to the Pats.)

Or better yet, Pats fans may be hearing James Harrison >>> Richard Seymour for at least another 8 months...why Harrison is better than Seymour b/c he's supposedly not only a better playmaker, but supposedly a better game breaker, who also supposedly forces more holding calls on him.

I'd take Ben over either Manning anyday and would have for a few years now. The homer in my takes him over Brady too, but I still think Brady is better. However, I will say Ben is better behind our O-line than most quarterbacks would be because he's hard to bring down and has great vision while scrambling aka running for his life.

Rothlesbooger was great on that last drive, and he certainly was very good in the face of pressure on Sunday night, but it is laughable to elevate him above Manning, Brady, or anyone of a number of past QB greats. Ben has a great team around him, he isn't asked to do to much, and when in doubt, he can always rely on the D. "most" peoples eyes? Who?

Most probably still take Manning I'd imagine. I think Ben is great in his respect and solidified himself as the clear #3 now but Brady and Manning turned fairly dismal teams around into champions and yearly contenders. Ben took over for a team with a winning history and had been knocking on the door for the last decade. The Steelers were fortunate to have a down season at the very right time. Credit to him for taking them to the next level, but Roth is still a few more years in the AFC elite and maybe a ring away from being put ahead of Manning IMO.

I think to a man the Steelers defense is better than ours in every way. Their D-line is just as stout and their LB are better and their secondary is better than ANY we have fielded during the dynasty. Let them gloat. Next year is a new season and we can prove it by having yet another great year.
They (along with Indy) will have a tougher schedule...so we have the inside track on homefield.

No Roethlisberger isn't better than Manning. In the playoffs maybe, but not overall. Manning really hasn't performed as well in the playoffs as he has in the regular season.

And Harrison is better than Seymour.

It pretty much impossible to compare Ben and Manning, since that would basically be comparing apples to oranges. Two COMPLETELY different styles of play. Statistically, I think all signs point to Manning being the better QB, but there are also a lot of "intangibles" that HAVE to be considered, ESPECIALLY when Roethlisberger is in the equation.

For most teams, I'd probably still take Manning, BUT there isn't a QB in the league that fits the Steelers more perfectly right now then Ben. With their weak O-line, any other QB would look TERRIBLE! It isn't always pretty, but Ben's ability to stay on his feet and keep plays alive is the ONLY reason this team's had any success offensively. A pure pocket passer like Brady or Manning would be laying on their back most of the game, and probably would have been seriously injured early on in the season. So, as a Steeler fan, with THIS O-line, a Manning or Brady is useless to me. I'd take Ben all day every day. Honestly, regardless of O-line or stats, I'd personally STILL take Ben over Manning. Peyton is a great QB, no denying that, but he doesn't have the guts and heart that Ben has. Peyton's game is highly cerebral, while Ben's is more of a moxie + reaction style. As much as I respect Peyton's ABILITIES (Peyton himself...not so much), Ben is definitely more fun to watch.

Harrison is WAY better than Seymour. Enough said. :D

ben is a decent game manager but it's the d that wins.

Oh, was the defense on the field when Ben threw the TD to Holmes? Weird....I thought it was a clutch drive by the OFFENSE.

I get what you're saying, and for the most part you're right. The defense definitely carried this team most of the season. But, when it's down to the wire, and my team NEEDS a TD in the last 2 minutes of the Super Bowl, who got it done? James Harrison?? Troy Polamalu?? All I'm saying is that while Ben doesn't have the mechanics and superb intelligence of what many would consider an "elite" QB, he makes up for it with raw desire to win, heart, and guts. Maybe it's the "homer" in me, but the days of calling him a "decent game manager" should be long-gone. He's got the hardware to back it up.

who cares who considers manning to be third best the best whatever. its all about the team winning Superbowl's. i dont care if the so called experts think brady is garbage as long as the team wins.

Roethlisberger did nothing in his first Super Bowl win. I think P. Manning still is the better QB.

Same thing they all said about Brady after 03 and 04. And if I'm not mistaken the defense isn't the one that scored a TD when the Steelers were down 23-20 with 2 and a half minutes left.

Roethlisberger did nothing in his first Super Bowl win. I think P. Manning still is the better QB.

What about the 3 games before that? It was the best 3 game stretch by a postseason QB since Brady in '04.

Even though I made my stance of Manning at #2 pretty clear earlier, some of these responses are just off base. Let's not take credit away from Roth he may not be #2 but he's certainly knocking on the door.

I knew this was coming and we will hear it often this offseason.

As a Colts fan I think Manning and Brady are clearly head and shoulders above the rest.

I don't even think Ben is the third or 4th best QB in the league. I give those spots to Rivers and Brees. Then I put Warner in there to round out the top 5.

Talk to me when Ben has an MVP caliber season, carries his team to the playoffs or does not rely on a great defense.

Clearly Ben is a good QB and perfect for the Steelers but lets not get carried away here and get blinded too much by the bling. I think the same argument would put QBs with one or two SB wins over Marino.
