I know he's had a bad few years in Seattle, but the guy could play, he was a great WR in our offense.

How many years left does he have in Seattle? Don't you think after his few years through injuries and non-competitive play that he would come back to the pats in a heart beat and smart contract?

I missed the flow of the offense when he was in there... he was a great WR at 10-15 yard receptions and pulled the outs off perfectly for Brady...

Thoughts?

Re: What is Dieon Branch's Status?

Too much hurt pride if he comes back... probably why Ty Law didn't come back either.

i would love to have him back. however, i dont think the seahawks will cut him loose unless hes injured. in which case we wouldnt want him anyways.

pride wont stop him from comming back. He didnt leave bitterly. He wanted the biggest contract he could get and knew that wouldnt be from New England.

So is he on the chopping block? Anyone know his contract status?

The media was talking about the possibility, but I believe that Mora said that Branch wasn't going anywhere.

As for Branch, I don't believe he'd want to come back. And I don't believe the Patriots would seek him out either.

Branch did one of the worst things a player can do in his situation. And that was lie about his intentions. He also refused to be treated the same as Tom Brady and Richard Seymour. Both of whom had to play out their rookie contracts before their extensions kicked in. In fact, that is the norm for the Patriots.

Seahawks President/GM Tim Ruskell confirmed that WR Deion Branch will return in 2009.

It had been speculated that the oft-injured wide receiver could be a cap casualty if the Seahawks decided to blow up the offense and start over this offseason. As it stands now, Branch should enter 2009 as Matt Hasselbeck's go-to receiver and a possible WR3.

He may not have been bitter, but I am fairly certain that he Patriots felt some animosity towards him. From downright lying about his intentions to honor his contract even if he didn't have an extension, to not negotiating in good faith with the Patriots (he never returned their phone calls or gave a response to their proposals prior to training camp), to wanting to be treated better than Seymour or Brady.

And, the Patriots offered him the same money that the Seahawks did. The only difference is that the Patriots didn't want to rip up the final year of his rookie contract. Because they wanted to treat him just like Brady and Seymour.

I just don't see it happening.

i didn't know that; however, i would hope that the pats would be willing to put the past behind them if the situation of branch wanting to return for a reasonable contract would ever come up. Im sure you agree as Pat fans that deion is a beloved member of the dynasty.

Deion is a self-centered piece of garbage who rode the coat-tails of better players. He is dead to me just like what-his-name who kicks for the Dolts now.

The ONLY way I would accept Deion back is if he gone on TV and said to the fans. "I'm sorry that I lied to you." Otherwise, he's just be a mercenary and I could care less if he was successful.

thats cold man. These guys are just trying to make their livings. #3 would have been crazy to not accept the colts contract. I dont know how you could not route for him. He is like brady to me.

Even if he came back and went for 800-1,000 yards and caught 6-7 TDs in our offense and then caught the game winning circus catch from Brady in the Super Bowl? Not even then you would not welcome him back?

He also had some illegal talks with the Jets

I love how Brady and Branch played together. I know it won't happen, but a WR corp of Moss, Welker and Branch makes my pants tight.

He could have accepted the Pats Contract. Its very easy to NOT route for him. He plays on the Dolts. He's another one who lied.... but I mean, why should we hold these guys at their word, right?

Nope. He'd still be a scum bag piece of trash to me. And, considering how he burnt his bridges, I don't see him coming back.

I think everyone forgets of how truly incredible David Givens was as well

I think I actually miss givens a slight bit more than Deion at this point

If Givens could ever get that knee healed in good enough shape to try the NFL again (which is highly unlikely) I would love for him to tryout with the team he said he would only come back to play for...The Patriots

I'd welcome Givens back in a heart beat. There is a guy with real class and it sucks that he suffered the two injuries that he did.

The difference between Givens and Branch is that Givens was open and honest about the situation.

Not to mention he was simply clutch when he was needed

And the fact that this was a guy that went to the 7th round of the draft shows how truly gifted he was and how stupid teams were to not see anything in his collegiate days to draft him before BB did

IMO Givens ranks up in the top 5 best low round draft picks of all time for the Pats - Brady being #1 of course

Givens was also less flashy and more workman-like, which probably makes it easier for us to identify with him.

Also, I can easily identify with Givens because we have the same exact first name and physique.
