Barstoolsports: 10 reasons why Pats get 2 1s for Cassel

2 #1's wont happen, and get it out of your head. You never know, crazy **** happens but the Patriots would be absolutely bending a team backwards in that scenario. I think it'd be understandable giving up this years first for a proven guy, but the next 2 years? Hell, a 1st and 2nd is more likely and it's even still a long shot. We'll see, we never know whats going on with the NFL.

The Vikings gave up a 1 and 3 for DE Allen, the Cowboys gave up a 1 and 3 for WR Williams... so a 1 and 3 isn't crazy for Cassel as a starting base for negotiations, and once a team is willing to do a 1 and 3, it's pretty easy to justify outbidding for Cassel, having him sign, and just giving the Pats two 1st rounders in order to take power out of the Pats' hands.

Hope he's right.

Definitely a webpage that I will return to in the future...to read the articles, of course.

This would feel a lot more possible to me if Green Bay needed a QB right now (you could argue they do, but I think they're happy with Rodgers for now). If you could get Chicago and Green Bay into a bidding war, you just might get one of them to bite on the two 1st's.

I just don't see the same rivalry between the other NFC North teams, not to that level anyway. You might get something between Chicago and Minny since they both probably feel they're just missing that one big piece to be a contender.

I don't see the Lions giving up two 1st's in any scenario. They have to feel like they need more help than just a QB.

Remember, an 09 1st plus a 10 1st is equivalent to a 091st plus 09 2nd. It isn't that outrageous a price to ask for.

You don't tie up $28 million of your cap space on two quarterbacks unless they're going to start putting two balls in the game at once.
Hmmm... there's an idea for a new startup league. Call it the DDFL (Double Down Football League). Make a few rules that make it more difficult for a single QB-offense to make yardage, but then, on each play, the offense chooses which of the two "plays" to keep.

Or better yet... put both teams on offense, each with one of the balls and call it the PFL (Psycho Football League). The team with the better results on each play advances the ball. No kneeling down or spiking the ball permitted.

Bumping this to give a little more attention to Jerry Thornton. I've linked before--every Monday during the season he does a "knee-jerk reactions" column about that week's game that's as good or better than any other X & Os breakdown you'll find anywhere. Better, really, considering most sportwriting is nonsense about personalities and whether Randy Moss is trying hard enough. And he's funny too. Stuff doesn't get much attention because it's on Barstool Sports which has a lot of NSFW girl pix. (Although I know Felger has referenced the site and Chad Finn plugs it as well.) Anyway, well worth checking out.

If he's franchised quickly, and is the first QB available for negotiations, I think we'll see two firsts happen as a team may feel they have to "steal" him to get him away from the Pats.

(3) Williams for a #1 and a #3 ?
Hahahaha !

Seriously. That was the stupidest trade I've seen this season. If Detroit can get a 1st and a 3rd for Roy 'lockerroom cancer' Williams, the Pats should at LEAST get that much for Cassel. I don't really think we'll get two 1st rounders but that was a funny article and it's nice to dream about it.
