Here are some Frantz Joseph clips for those interested from what i was able to dig up from this past Motor City Bowl. I'm hoping more clips will pop up on Youtube as draft day draws closer.

He's #56 (or the only guy on our defense not missing tackles..)
At the 2:00 minute mark is him sealing the win for us. Without Joseph I'm not sure we would have been able to pull off that upset against Central Michigan.

YouTube - Frantz Joseph, Motor City Bowl (12/26/08)

Your buddy just picked a pop-up off and returned it for good yardage, though it looks like he wasn't watching his feet and stepped out of bounds at least 10 yds before he would have been forced out - I'll have to check it later.

Looks a little more comfortable in traffic than some of the highly touted Day 1 LBs.

Also, nfldraftscout notes:

01/29/09 - Texas vs. the Nation, Wednesday: ILB Frantz Joseph (Florida Atlantic, 6-2, 243): Whether in pads or just shells, Joseph made his presence felt in the box. He showed the strength necessary to get off of blocks and the awareness in zone to prevent running backs and tight ends from making yardage after the catch. - Chad Reuter, The SportsXchange, NFLDraftScout.com

Frantz and our ball coach rep'd our school well today. The Nation team won 27-24. I hope there were a lot of scouts there that took notice. I'll have to check out clips later to see how UCF's Burnett did later.

I believe there were three times as many scouts as last year if I recall the sideline reporter's chat with a game official.

Frantz does well enough in coverage, he's a bit heavy legged so he'll be used more as a two-down LB in the NFL. I think 4-3 teams will value him more than NE will, but I have little doubt he's getting a close look as a Day Two option.

EDIT: Unless someone focusing on Burnett Youtube's him I don't expect any game clips, I never heard his name. Which may just mean he had good coverage and was never challenged by the QB. I will say I was much more impressed by the QBs in this game than those in any of the previous games.

I read he had a pick and recovered a fumble for a nice return, both helped set up scores for the Nation offense. He was also named game MVP. Not a bad day at the office.

mods - You might as well merge this thread with the Texas vs. The Nation thread to keep all the info together.

Refinements apart, he plays with a lot of energy and he's a solid tackler. I'm sold -- for what it's worth.

A little off topic, but does anyone notice how our uniforms resemble the Pats throwbacks?....:verycool:....He looks like an Andre Tippett clone out there haha

Any off-field issues with the guy like being trapped in an enigmatic marriage or throwing lavish parties in his Palais Esterhazy estate where the neighbors were forced to continually call the cops?

Frustrating to see that Joseph wasn't invited to the combine. :(

None I've read.

What patchick said. :bricks:

The guy was on the Butkis award watch list. I watched him play several times this season and was hands down one of the best LB's I seen all season. I think he is suffering from Kevin Smith syndrome - "he plays in the sunbelt".

Kevin Smith was the best running back in the country last year and he went in the third round. He plays on the worst team in football this year, behind a terrible line and still averages 4.1 ypc.

Bottom line Frantz Joseph will be a player on Sunday's.

"My mother was calling me every night, crying when she couldn't pay the bills," Joseph said. "I know what that looked like because I saw her cry in front of my face. The best decision was for me to come home close to my mother."

-Frantz Joseph on leaving BC to transfer to FAU.

FAU's Frantz Joseph bringing down all obstacles

He's got a good head on his shoulders and is leaving FAU with his degree...:D

And yes, we are still pretty upset here in Palm Beach County that Frantz got snubbed by the combine. The Texas Vs. Nation game was the last chance for him to improve his stock, he made the best of it.

I really liked Kevin Smith coming into the draft. He's been ok, but his offensive line quality may or may not be holding him back. It's hard to tell on a team as terrible as the Lions.

PS UCF plays in conference usa, not the sunbelt. UCF also happens to be the 5th largest university in the nation, surprisingly enough.

The Sunbelt doesn't exactly feature any power house teams so Joseph's quality of competition is pretty low. He could be a nice find on the second day though. His size at 6'2 243 if legit is a nice fit for the Pats system. He could easily gain the weight to get into the 250ish range. If he doesn't goto the combine then he'll just have to impress scouts at his pro day. I'm not sure how many scouts will show up for Florida Atlantic pro day... but hopefully the Pats will have eyes/ears everywhere. ;)

Right now he's projected as a 5th round pick but he could sneak into round 4 depending on how much that Texas-Nations game influences the scouts opinions of him.

I believe running for 970 yards on 14 carries per game is pretty good on a team that featured a passing attack that had one receiver and 3 bad QB's.

I realize that UCF is in C-USA, I put the Sunbelt in my quote because that is where Joseph plays. I wasn't referring to UCF, I probably could have worded that better.

IMO, If Joseph played at a bigger school he would be a first day pick. He was their entire defense.

From his Texas vs. The Nation weigh-in: 6' 1 1/2" 243, 9 3/8" hands, 33 3/8" arms

I'm not sure how much heavier I'd want him to get since he's already heavy-legged. Those are some orangoutang-like long arms though, they will really help him stacking and shedding OL once he learns better technique and gets in Coach Woicik's hands.
