Re: Borges:Steelers challenge Patriots for supremacy

Didn't Massarotti write the same article yesterday?

Re: Borges:Steelers challenge Patriots for supremacy

IF they get one next year, how can you not argue. 3 for them, 3 for us. I really doubt Pittsburgh gets one next year, Borges also thinks it is far-fetched.

Massarotti is the new Borges...or is Borges the new Massarotti? What's for sure is that they're both venomous dinks.

Pats have 3 rings, Steelers have 2 (talking now)

Pats have the advantage. Bottom line. Until Ben gets a 3rd or 4th, Brady and the Pats are on top.

How great is that the Colts and Cowboys aren't even talked about?

Re: Borges:Steelers challenge Patriots for supremacy

Pats have also been to 4 superbowls this decade and btw, had an undefeated regular season in there somewhere.

It's all about "what have you done for me lately" and to their point, the steelers have won more recently than the pats. But if we talk about the team of the decade, it's hard to argue against the pats.

It makes me vomit that the 16-0 is not even brought up in this discussion (maybe Borges did, I won't click that shyt). Quite frankly, after seeing the how the last two Super Bowls ended, and seeing how the line between victory and defeat is so thin, and so predicated on luck, timing, refereeing, and other intangible factors, it is plainly clear to me that the 16-0 is a greater achievement than winning a single Super Bowl.

I know we blew it in SB 42, I know the defense handed over the game in a situation in which the game was won - but look, if Arizona doesn't do the exact same thing this year, Pittsburgh doesn't get a ring - would that have made Pittsburgh's season a failure?

16 weeks of sustained excellence, defeating playoff team after playoff team, and doing so in convincing fashion is, to me, the greatest achievement the Patriots have had save for winning back to back Super Bowls.

Both Steelers SB victories were against weak opponents and gift wrapped by the refs.

"Stealers" aren't in the same league.

Exactly.

The Pats record has been better this decade, marginally, but still better.

The Pats have broken records for most consequetive games won at home, most consequetive games and TDs thrown in a season and TDs caught in a season.

Obviously, they went 16-0 in the regular season.

They are worth more than almost any other team in the NFL.

As mentioned, 4 Super Bowl appearances. 3 Super Bowl victories. Ummm... that is half of what the Steelers have done during their entired existence. And it was done in less than one decade.

Even if they do win the SB next year, you still have to look at the playoff head-to-head record. That pretty much tells the story for the decade.

Why are we still reading articles from Borges?

amen to that..........I wouldn't even justify clicking on that piece of sh#ts article.....He is a sniveling little toad and has hated the Pats for as long as I can recall.........It is NOT EVEN close in regards to the Pats and Squeelers.......How many records have the Pats broken? 16-0, 18-0 probably never even included by the douche bag Boygeorges.........This guy just likes to put a sliver under every Pats fans finger nail......Hope someday he says the wrong thing in a pub and gets what is coming to him.........

BINGO!!!
Beating them in the AFCCG twice, in their own house should count for something.

And Borges is a P.O.S.

During the decade, the Pats are 5-2 against the Steelers. And as stated prior, 2-0 in the playoffs. They do not play the Steelers next season unless its in the playoffs. So the best the Steelers can hope for is 5-3 with a 2-1 in playoffs. If the Steelers do in fact win the SB next year, this proves the Pats were better. Maybe slightly, but in fact better. I say the Pats just win the SB next year and make easier on all of us.

I would agree with that. Overall the Pats have been the better team.

I probably hate the seasquawks more then anyone here, but they were no in way "weak" in 05. They were 13-3, the highest scoring team in the NFL, top 5 in points allowed, blew out Carolina in the championship game and were by far the best team in the NFC that year.

Re: Borges:Steelers challenge Patriots for supremacy

Definitely can agree with that!

Re: Borges:Steelers challenge Patriots for supremacy

I agree with regard to the importance of the 16-0 season. However, most posters here disagree. They have repeatedly indicated that all that matters is winning SB's.

I don't see how Borges is so wrong. He indicates (as many have) that if (and it's a big if he says) the Steelers win the last SB of the decade, there should be a discussion regarding to the best team of the decade. In the end, the patriots would have won 3 out of 5 of the first half and the steelers 3 out of 5 of the second half, and both will have repeated. The obvious is not stated, but having 7 SB wins would move them up when considering the best all-time franchises.

All this matters little since we will win next year, but we will be listening to this all year, as well we should have to. The Steelers have won the SB and it is their 2nd this decade. Their win was not a fluke. They were the best team in the league this past season. They played a tough schedule and met all challenges.
