As we have done for the past couple of years, we should have one thread to post top 100+ player rankings so we don't get thread after thread.

So when you find one that is updated, please post it on this thread.

Here is the first from Draft Tek. This is a top 300 list and if you click on the lighter colored it gives profiles. As time goes on, I'm sure they will be adding more profiles than what they have now.

Here is the draft order as of today from teh huddle report.

It may be of help as you play with the lists.:D

NFP Prospect Position Rankings

As NFL officials make their way back to their draft boards following the Senior Bowl, position rankings now become critically important. In order for teams to put together the most precise big board, accuracy in position rankings is paramount. This process is not only considered one of the most significant aspects of the draft process, it’s also one of the most frequently updated.
Bunting didn't break it down by 3-4 v. 4-3 for this listing, but promises to do so in the future.

There certainly could be others picked in the top 12, and we will have a lot more information before the draft, but there are a dozen names that "everyone" seems to be mentioned in the top tier. To me, only two are worth trying to move up to get, and they are likely to be way out of reach: Curry and Brown. I think the question of moving up would be to get our pick of the next eleven.

If we sit tight, we defintely would have one of these 23.

AS OF NOW - A DOZEN STUDS
QB Stafford, Sanchez
WR Crabtree, Jenkins
OT Oher, Smith, Smith, Monroe
DE Brown, Opokpo
LB Curry
DT Raji

THE NEXT ELEVEN ???
WR Maclin, Harvin
RB Moreno, Wells
LB Maualuga, Cushing, Laurinaitis
CB Davis, Moore
DE/LB Maybin
DE Johnson

IF WE DON'T TRADE UP, WE COULD BE CHOOSING AMONG
LB Sintim (the last of the first round LB's?)
TE Pettigrew
OG/C Unger
OG Robinson
S Moore
S Johnson

Actually, I am very comfortable with these six, and another one or two that might fall. I don't think that we would end up wanting the last linebacker. Whoever falls is likely to have issues that we don't know about, and is overvalued. Picking between a TE, OG and a S iis fine with me. All are strong needs for which there might be value at #23.

Stafford and Sanchez = studs?

Stafford and Sanchez = studs?

They're only high picks, imo, if teams don't cash in on QB's through trades/FA. And there are enough to go around. I'm betting only one of them goes in round one, at this point Sanchez because he's getting a lot press.

This is an excellent resource w/ players ranked in 10 tiers. I listed 26 prospects to get us to the #23 slot. Notice Tier 3, any serious Pats prospects there?

Draft Rankings by Position
NFL Draft Big Board (top 100) as of January 7
NFL Mock Draft by Rob Tribbett as of February 2
23. New England Patriots - Alphonso Smith, CB, Wake ForestThe Patriots drafted a pair of corners in 2008, but Terrence Wheatley was bothered with injuries and Jonathan Willhite contributed little. Wake Forest's CB Alphonso Smith is the type of player that the Patriots covet - team leader and hard worker. The ACC career leader in interceptions would thrive playing in the New England scheme, which has seen players like Ellis Hobbs and Asante Samuel rack up lofty interception totals. Smith is just 5'9, which is why he falls this far, but could contribute immediately. The Patriots also could try to improve their offensive line, but the defensive secondary is the biggest need area for now.
NFL Mock Draft by Matt McCoy on February 11
23. New England Patriots – Alphonso Smith, CB, WakeForest

The New England Patriots season was thought to have been lost on the opening weekend of the 2008 season when Tom Brady went down, but Matt Cassel preformed admirably. The Patriots offense continues to put up big numbers with a strong passing attack led by offensive weapons Randy Moss, Wes Welker, and Ben Watson. The Patriots defense battled inconsistent play and really seemed to miss former CB Asante Samuel. The Patriots attempted to replace Samuel a year ago with prospects such as Terrence Wheatley and Jonathan Wilhite, but neither measured up in the least and the Patriots once again have a need at the cornerback position. The Patriots infused some energy into their linebackers a year ago when they selected ILB Jerod Mayo and they will look to add some energy into their secondary this year. Some may be surprised to see Alphonso Smith go before the talented Vontae Davis, but Smith has excellent ball skills and fits the Patriots profile a bit more than does Davis. Don’t be surprised if DJ Moore is the pick here as well, but for the time being, Alphonso Smith has the momentum and is the projection here at pick #23.

47. New England Patriots (From San Diego Chargers) – Louis Delmas, S, Western Michigan

58. New England Patriots – Dannell Ellerbe, MLB, Georgia

NFP Prospect Position Rankings

NFL executives are now putting the finishing touches on their draft boards and position rankings with just a few days before the start of the 2009 NFL Combine. Not much has taken place in the past week and there hasn’t been much of a change to the overall rankings. However, with the NFL draft season getting into full swing this week, the National Football Post puts together its weekly rankings of the top ten players at each specific position.

I've noticed that many of the lists have been revised. We don't have to post the revised lists as all you have to do is click on the links provided and you'll get the revisions.

NFP Draft Value Chart

When draft boards are constructed, NFL teams take one of two approaches. The first is to rank the draft’s top 32 players and give each a first-round grade, followed by the draft’s next 32 prospects, who garner second-round grades, and so on.

The second approach is to use a value chart, in which each prospect, based on film study, earns a grade depending on his play. If only 25 prospects grade out as first-round talent, only 25 receive first-round grades. This allows NFL teams to see the full value of the draft and not force first-round grades on prospects who aren’t worthy.

Here is the National Football Post’s second value chart of the draft season:
