What do people know about him? I know he is the Butkis Award winner and projected as the best LBer in the draft. What do you guys think of him?

And what about Trading Cassel for a draft pick to get this guy?

If BB really wanted him he'd need to cut a deal for a Top Five pick. Mayock compared him to Mayo and rated him a better LB. If BB did get him then Mayo moves to SILB and Curry takes WILB - Guyton spells both.

My avatar shows what I think of Curry ... I love him. 4 months ago he was my binky and I was hoping that he would somehow sneak through to the late 1st round, but he got too much attention. If anything he's overhyped now, possibly going as early as #3 to KC.

I think he's a top 10 pick, and easily in the Patrick Willis-Jerod Mayo class as a prospect, probably a bit better. Would move him inside and pair him with Mayo and have a big grin on my face for the next decade, but it's not going to happen. The price would be prohibitive to get him and to pay him.

Curry is the best all around LB in the draft, we won't even get a sniff of him picking #23. I think Clint Sintim, Michael Johnson and Rey Maualuga are our best possibilities for LB at #23.

Cant we move from the 23rd position? How are the arizona cardinals ahead of us?They are in the superbowl.

Sure, BB should have a little ammo to move up a few places if there is someone he really wants. There are plenty of threads complaining about the draft process that explain why NE is picking #23 - life's a beach and them's the rules.

Hey, what is this, a soap box derby?!?!

The Cardinals aren't ahead of us, they will pick at either 31 or 32. The Eagles and Vikings are the only playoff teams picking ahead of us in the 1st round, picking at #21 and #22, since they had poorer regular season records than we did despite making the playoffs.

Darned soap boxes are made from cardboard now and won't support my weight.

San Diego also.

Would love Curry... but he's out of reach this year it seems. Too bad. But there are other good linebackers available in this year's draft.

We have too few spots for all our draft picks... this year is a great chance to trade up and grab Curry, especially since we'll have other picks from Cassel and Asante

NE currently has 8 draft picks, they seem to be assured of at least two more from Comp picks. For the moment Curry is projected as a Top 5 pick. Using the outmoded Trade Value Chart, #5 = 1700 pts. NE's total draft = 1761.6

Until Cassel is traded, assuming that's NE's intent, Curry isn't an option. If Cassel is traded, Curry is still only an option if NE winds up with a Top 10 pick - pooling both number ones just for Curry is a bit excessive.

6 months ago when Maualuga and Laurinaitis were considered the top 2 LBs I had Curry as #1 and was hoping he would fly under the rader and fall into Pats territory. Aint going to happen. He's out of reach for us this year, unless KC trades #3 for Cassel. Even then, he's a probable top 5 pick this year, so taking him at #3 would be very expensive, and trading down to around #10 like we did for Mayo would probably mean losing out on him.

What hurts right now more than losing out on Curry is the thought that his most likely destination is #5 to Cleveland and Mangini.

The problem with the whole trade up idea is that the only guy in the top 15 I'd want is Curry. So, we can only trade up on draft day to get him - factoring our want of Curry into the Cassel deal is not productive. If we got a top 15 pick out of Cassel, it might end up just being an expensive albatross hanging round our necks.

Naah there's gonna be a real good player at #15. And we signed Mayo at the #10 slot and his contract is not killing our cap by any stretch of the imagination.

If we get pick #3... then that's gonna be hella expensive. But the silver lining is that you could draft Curry then.

Try to control your Curry man-crush, cos Curry to the Pats is just not happening. Not now. At least be happy that your expectations were mirrored in where he was taken.

Like I remember following Derrick Rose in highschool and thought wow he'd be a great PG for the Celtics. But then EVERYBODY else figured out he was great too, so he goes #1 overall. And Celtics never draft #1 so, to hell with that! LOL.

Mike Mayock is the most accurate talent evaluator out there, any past metric has shown he predicts the 100 actual drafted players the best and also finds quality players nobody else picks up on. His film study is independent of what other mediots say. He knew Mendenhall would be better than McFadden last year, and also said Mayo was the best ILB.. and tons of other examples.

Mayock recently was on NFL.com and said Curry is better than Mayo, and that he really could not find a single weakness or flaw in Curry's game. He has Curry as the top player coming into the entire draft.

Given the great depth and talent already on the team and lack of open spots, I would gladly package a bunch of picks to take Curry.

I've seen Mayock's clip on Curry and heard what he had to say in comparison to Mayo, that said NE got Mayo and Crable for the same price; is Curry = to the value of two Top 100 players? Plus however much more you wish to spend to move up for him. Hypothetical: If NE were to trade Cassel to San Francisco for #10, they would need to use the SD 2nd rounder to trade up to #5 - is Curry worth say, Jenkins at #10 and Louis Delmas at #47?

Usually there is ONLY ONE ILB that is a guaranteed future star each year. These seem to go in the top 12, like Urlacher, Willis, Johnson, Mayo etc. This year is unusual; there should be several. OTOH, every year produces several OLBs.

My pick for best is Lauranitis for his overall complete game, be it ILB blitzing, pass coverage, making INTs, or run stuffing; insuring he is a genuine 3 down LB; and he is the smartest, (Academic All-American), and most dedicated leader and film room rat. I judge Belichick prefers such personal attributes as well as athleticm. But that is just my preference.

I suspect hard to get ILBs are in season, and plentiful, and one will fall to the 20s. Belichick is well known to pick Lemons when Lemons are in season and plentiful, and make Lemonade.:D
