Thanks Box, the CBS stuff is from one of the guys at NFLDraftScout.com.

My latest binkie is... drum roll please....

OLB Lee Robinson (Alcorn State, 6-2, 249): He could challenge Owens as the top pick from this game because he's a physical specimen, and he can really play. Scouts value a guy like Robinson who can hold up a pulling guard in space but run with backs in coverage down the sideline.

I see him moving inside and being a primary backup \ special teamer with potential.

Great. Just spent some time preparing to submit the same topic -- will post what I wrote instead:

Also, a couple of potential Pats prospects have been mentioned in this draft forum - TE Davon Drew & CB Joe Burnett. Here are the practice notes for these two:

Davon Drew(TE- East Carolina) - Drew showed consistent hands and flashed a good stiff arm running after the catch. He also road graded his man five yards out of the play to create one of the biggest holes of the day in 11 on 11s.
Davon Drew(TE- East Carolina) - Drew hit the deck a lot today, sprawling to make attempts at errant passes or trying to make tough grabs in traffic. His athleticism is still apparent, getting off the line quickly and into his routes, and he did come down with a few of those contested balls.
Davon Drew (TE-East Carolina) made an athletic, leaping catch, only to have Reshard Langford(S-Vanderbilt) separate him from the ball. Drew later did a good job sitting down in a soft spot to make a play.
Joe Burnett(CB-Central Florida) - As expected, Burnett mirrored wide receivers as well as any corner at this game, and he also showed good aggressiveness and instincts in run support.
Joe Burnett(CB-Central Florida) - Burnett continues to look like a veteran among youngsters, jumping Nick Moore's comeback way too easily (it would have been an interception if it wasn't a poorly thrown ball), and generally knowing what the wide receiver is going to do at the moment he does it. Burnett drives on the ball in flight well and always competes hard to break up passes without making plays that would draw obvious penalties. We haven't got a chance to see him return kicks and punts yet this week, but it will be a big part of Burnett's value to his eventual NFL team. Burnett is definitely one of the five or ten best players at this game.
TE Drew was the topic in this thread: If we want TE Help...

CB Burnett has been mentioned numerous times by myself as one of my favorite CBs. Currently, he's my unofficial sleeper pick at the CB position. Will wait on the Combine to seal the envelope.

OLB Lee Robinson (Alcorn State, 6-2, 249).

I'm with you -- in fact, I almost put him in the "deep sleeper" thread but I decided he wasn't "deep" enough. :)

Some intriguing words on Robinson from NFLDraftScout:

Positives: Good height and upper-body strength. ... Can bull rush and rip from running back/tight end blocks. ... Nice closing speed, runs downhill to attack ballcarriers. ... Often lines up outside the defensive end in a rushing stance to take advantage of his explosiveness. ... Uses his hands to keep cut blocks off his knees. ... Fights through trash inside to get to the ballcarrier. ... Will hustle down plays. ... Team leader on and off the field.

Also keep an eye on OT Cornelius Lewis. He's a FSU transfer who by accounts dominated at Tennessee St. last year.

:agree: Nice size, definite 3-4 project.

TV: CBS College Sports (Ch. 613 on DirecTV, you other slobs have to figure it out for yourselves.)

There's a number of kids for the Pats to consider on Day Two or as UDFAs playing in this game. It also looks like the QBs in this game may be the best of any of the All-Star games (they could hardly be worse). Because the Hula Bowl went Udders Up, the talent in this game looks to be the highest it's ever been - that Marshall kid from Denver was a Hula Bowl stud...

Players to watch:
Texas
93 DT Nader Abdallah Ohio State - possible 3-4 DE
71 OG/OT Robert Brewster Ball State - LT on a pretty good MAC team
94 DE Rulon Davis California - possible 3-4 DE
92 DT Louis Ellis Shaw Univ. - possible NT
32 S Stephen Hodge TCU - Rodney Jr.
66 OT/OG Cornelius Lewis Tennessee St - trans from FSU
20 RB/RT Devin Moore Wyoming - 4.4 speed
76 OT Lydon Murtha Nebraska - UDFA LT type.
24 WR Jordan Norwood Penn State - remember the Rose Bowl?
29 CB Chris Owens San Jose State - the "other" SJS corner, they make good ones
98 DT Zach Potter Nebraska - possible 3-4 DE
47 LB Michael Reed Cent.Oklahoma - 293 lb ILB from the school that gave us Keith "Truck" Traylor, who also started in the NFL as a LB.
56 LB Lee Robinson Alcorn State - athletic 249 lb MLB
80 TE Kory Sperry Colorado State - not a bad TE

52 LB/DE Jovan Belcher Maine - for you Mainiacs

83 TE Davon Drew East Carolina - A more athletic Bear Pascoe

There's some good talent in that game, and some potential great 2nd day picks. In addition to Frantz Joseph and Joe Burnett, 2 others in particular stand out to me.

I'm particularly keen so hear how RB Devin Moore looks. He's a potential Darren Sproles type and could eventually replace Faulk. I think he would be a poor man's Percy Harvin in our offense is an all-purpose weapon. He someone did not get a combine invite, so he may continue to fly a bit below the radar.

I'm also very interested in Davon Drew at TE. Bear Pascoe did not look very good at the Shrine Game, and I think Drew is a much better late round option at TE. Some have suggested that he is reminiscent of Ben Coates, which is enough to make me want to take a closer look.

Along with Sammie Lee Hill from Spillman at DT (325#, very athletic, former basketball player, has also played DE and TE) and a real punter such as Kevin Huber from Cincinnati, these guys are high on my day 2 watch list right now.

Joseph finds the ball well, he's been kept clean by the DL and hasn't needed to engage OL to get to the ball carrier, but I don't get the impression that he'd shy away from the contact like some.

Burnett hasn't jumped out at me yet, I'll have to see how he looks when I replay the game.

Moore hasn't done so much. Yonus Davis of San Jose State is the little engine that could in this game. Bernard Scott of Abilene Christian is the standout RB.

Davon Drew had a nice TD catch, and a couple drops. Ryan Purvis of BC is the kid who has done the most to impress me at TE in any of the All-Star games, this includes Shawn Nelson and Brandon Pettigrew.

7 S/LB Kevin Akins Boston College - I don't know him from Adam, but here's a tweener for SS folks - Slo-mo.

9 CB Joe Burnett Central Florida - stud CB - Slo-mo.

83 TE Davon Drew East Carolina - A more athletic Bear Pascoe - and probably the least impressive TE in the game.
74 OT Andrew Hartline Central Michigan - solid MAC LT - Slo-mo.

12 QB Chase Holbrook New Mexico State - good camp fodder prospect.
42 LB James Holt Kansas - SS sized speedy LB, I don't know how he is in coverage, but worth a closer look for SS.
19 CB Jamar Love Arkansas - possible FS.
37 DE Henry Melton Texas - possible 3-4 DE if he can add another 15-20 lbs.
49 DE Cyril Obiozor Texas A&M - possible 3-4 DE if he can add another 15-20 lbs.
88 WR David Richmond San Jose State - laid out for one outstanding reception.
13 S Jamarca Sanford Mississippi - possible UDFA SS candidate.
23 RB Bernard Scott Abilene Christian - best RB in the game.
34 FB/RB Frank Summers UNLV - good receiver, I don't know how a 5'9" 243 lb FB will work out in the NFL, but he was fun to watch.
21 DB/RT Lardarius Webb Nicholls State - two passes defended, this kid really helped himself in this game.
10 QB Jason Boltus Hartwick - awkward throwing motion, but good camp fodder prospect.
76 OT Gerald Cadogan Penn State - move him inside to Guard.
30 FB/RB Conredge Collins Pittsburgh - his coaches reportedly thought he was the most well-rounded RB during the week.
55 OC/OG C.J. Davis Pittsburgh - had a very nice lead block pulling from Center, he can move.
6 SPT/RB Yonus Davis San Jose St. - impressive for being 5'6"
97 DT William Johnson Michigan - possible 3-4 DE if he can add another 15-20 lbs.
33 S Reshard Langford Vanderbilt - I forget what he did, but I had to look him up during the game for a nice play.
25 CB Jason McCourty Rutgers - looked good in run support.
35 P Chris Miller Ball State - did a very nice job of pinning the ball inside the 20.
91 DE Derek Walker Illinois - possible 3-4 DE if he can add another 15-20 lbs.
54 DE Pierre Walters Eastern Illinois - possible 3-4 DE if he can add another 15-20 lbs.
24 CB DeAngelo Willingham Tennessee - FS prospect.
16 QB Drew Willy Buffalo - good camp fodder option.
32 CB Jahi Word-Daniels Georgia Tech - FS prospect.

Dominique Edison - Small School Pick who has big potential. Much like Marques Colston. Edison is 6'2 and 200 lbs and runs in the low 4.4s.

The following is paraphrased from what was on NFLDraftscout.com

Good: Elite speed and good upper body strength. Catches with his hands, not his body. Very good in and out of routes. Does not round them off. Good Body Control and willing to fight for the ball on Crossing routes. Willing Run blocker.

Bad: Played against small school talent and overmatched the competition handedly. Played in a spread offense. Didn't blossom until his senior year, but did he ever blossom. Doesn't have a lot of wiggle in his hips. Inexperienced as a kick returner.

Nice report, Thanks, Box,,

How did Chubby Hodge look?? Still maintain any semblance of speed??

And the write up on CB Burnett reminds me why I always want to see the player with my own eyes.

Hodge flashed power playing downhill, I need to replay the game and key on him to see how he did in coverage but he he gets gigged for his coverage in draftnik reports.

I didn't notice Burnett during the game so I need to rewatch just for him, he might have been tight on his assignment and the QBs never went near him or he might have been burned and the announcers who were too busy poking fun at each other didn't analyze the play - right now I dunno.

Maybe they are playing slower than their speed?

I know a kid like Deleston who weighs 220 runs a 4.55, so that's plenty fast.

As for Norwood from Penn State, I know he is not a burner.

I would take him over Derrick Williams and Deon Butler however. Norwood runs VERY precise routes, has incredible hands, and he can take a hit. If Derrick Williams is OJ McDuffie, then Norwood is Brian Engram.

Frank Summers = instant fan favorite. I was disappointed in watching him play FB (seemed hesitant and much less aggressive than when he ran the ball), but he would be fun to watch. Seems a better receiver than BJGE, but more needs to be seen.

intrigued by DE/OLB Julius Williams. Would like to see him in camp.
