re: Richard Seymour Wife Arrested

How is that lynching? I thought lynching was a mob stringing someone up.

re: Richard Seymour Wife Arrested

Strange use of the word lynching. Looks like some people crashed a party and were escorted out.

Just reading between the lines
Deputies say the incident began after two victims, who told investigators that they had been invited to the party, were engaged in a verbal altercation with an unknown number of people.

Investigators say the two victims were assaulted by a group of people, sometime after 12:30 a.m. on January 1, and they told deputies the group "jumped" them.

Don't see that she is singled out here except because she's well known.

She looks pretty tough. I wonder if Richard's injuries are always football related.

re: Richard Seymour Wife Arrested

Huh... one of the more bizarre thread titles I've ever seen on this forum. I don't care about his wife, though- the article doesn't say anything about Seymour even being there, let alone being arrested. Are you sure that he got arrested too?

Re: Richard Seymour Wife Arrested

"EMS responded to the scene and they determined that one of the victims suffered from a sprained wrist."

Yes, but what they neglected to report, was that it was a bad sprain.

It baffles me too...it sounds like a fight broke out at a party, no clue where the "lynching" comes in. I changed the thread title for now.

Re: Richard Seymour Wife Arrested

I'll reserve judgment until a real media outlet reports it

Not me. My mind's made up. Seymour's career here is over. Heck - maybe in the whole NFL. Who is ever going to hire this guy now?

I can't imagine that Myra Kraft is a fan of lynching either. Nope - no question. Seymour's done.

(Then again, maybe this has something to do with John Lynch during his stint with the team.)

Re: Richard Seymour Wife Arrested

If this woman is going to be accused of lynching, she better have brought a posse of 20 over to this party and pounded the crap out of somebody, otherwise this is the most ridiculous charge I have ever heard.

I was tempted to draw a conclusion along those lines, but if I had, I would have chalked it up as karma due to spygate

According to this website, it was Seymour's wife and another woman (who has also been arrested) who attacked a third woman:

EXPLOSIVE: NFL Players Wife Catches Him Cheating ... And Attempts To LYNCH HIS JUMP OFF!!! - MediaTakeOut.com™ 2009

I would imagine in S. Carolina "lynching" is an old law that evolved after the Civil War stating that when more than one person assaults a single person its categorized as a "lynching". That would be my guess as a lawyer why the term is being used.

Re: Richard Seymour Wife Arrested

Kevin Garnett was charged with same thing in high school in South Carolina that's why he moved to Chicago. Lynching in SC basically means 2 or more people beating someone up.

I'll wait for a site at which English is the first language, but thanks anyway.

Not making fun of you, but the language on that site is almost incomprehensible, unless lynch his jump off is common slang.

Thanks for the legal insight.

Re: Richard Seymour Wife Arrested

I found second degree lynching to be essentially be defined as an act of violence by two or more people upon another person. It's considered a felony and carries a term of at least three years, so I would imagine this will be plea bargained down to something less severe.

S.C. Code of Laws Title 16 Chapter 3 Offenses Against The Person - www.scstatehouse.gov-LPITS

Thanks for the clarification. I'm still going to leave it out of the thread title, since for us New Englanders "lynching" sounds like something very different from "a fight broke out at a party."

Re: Richard Seymour Wife Arrested

Word is one of the women said the fight was over a very small thing.

I somehow doubt that Seymour's thing is very small.
