Source: Brady on track for opener - The Boston Globe

TAMPA -- Tom Brady is progressing on pace in his rehabilitation from reconstructive left knee surgery and is now dropping back and throwing passes, according to a medical source familiar with the Patriots quarterback's case. No additional surgical procedures are planned, according to NFL and medical sources.

....

great news for us fans , bad news for fans of every other team in football.

It's all good, the negative stuff is normal that I would have expected. He's way ahead of where Rivers was and should be fine. Of course, we do HAVE TO franchise Cassel just in case ;)

It looks like all the fears about Brady last month were a little premature. Curran seems to have gotten some bad information. He was right about looseness in the MCL, but appears to be wrong about the ACL which is huge since the MCL can heal on its own.

With this article, Michael Smith's story, and Charlie Casserly all saying basically the same thing. I think it is safe to assume that this is the correct information.

Great stuff.

Incidentally, what an awesome quote from Fernando Bryant:

"I'm a big Brady fan. I hope he comes back," said Bryant, who was cut by the Patriots out of training camp. , yesterday during Super Bowl Media Day. "He's one of the coolest guys I've ever met in my life. In my 10 years in the NFL, I've never seen a quarterback that interacts with the team the way he does: offense, defense, and special teams. I'm not going to lie. He's special."

This is excellent news.

If this is true, Cassel might be trade bait.

As great as this news is, the truth is that until he gets on the field this summer in a simulated session no one's really going to know the important answers to the questions

OT: Check out Fernando Bryant's comments too

Former Patriots and current Steelers cornerback Fernando Bryant said Brady's mere presence will help the Patriots.

This is excellent news but beware of the infamous "Source". We all know how those guys are.

Regardless though, this story made my month. If I knew it was 100% true, it would have made my year (well... football-wise anyway).

Just the fact alone that he's dropping back and throwing passes is such great news. Hmmm, if Cassel stays could some wacky formation be created a la the "wildcat". Why not have Brady and Cassel behind centre? :D

I think that is called the A-11 or something. A high school is using it...we had a thread about it going.

Edit: Here is the website - http://a11offense.com/
I don't think it would work with two passers...maybe with one solid passer (Brady) and a QB who is a very good runner and decent passer (maybe Michael Vick or Randall Cunningham).

Re: Brady to be ready for Opening Day

i'm glad brady will be back and i don't expect for him to have much trouble getting back into the swing. how do you guys rate brady all time? I'd say he's pretty high up on anybody's list

Re: Brady to be ready for Opening Day

Can't wait to hear what Tom Curran has to say next. Maybe it will be that Brady's injury is terminal and he only has two months to live.

Re: Brady to be ready for Opening Day
