Has anyone read this paperback by the author Ken Knight?

Just wondering if it was a good read or not and was it fact based or just propoganda from an opinionated fan?

Saw it for sale at Barnes and Nobles and if anyone here bought or read this book and what they thought of it?

New England Bandwagon Nation, Ken Knight, Book - Barnes & Noble

Hmmmmm I'm gonna guess it's not that great, the synopsis reads like Ratsinsider.com:

Synopsis

**WARNING**
This publication contains subject matter which some people, May find to be offensive. Please read at your own peril.

The fans of the Patriots, as well as the New England sports media, keep stating that Bill Belichick is a 'Genius', and the Pats are still the 'best' team in the NFL. They fail to acknowledge the fact that there have been three different Super Bowl champions since the Pats last won one. Mike Shanahan, Tony Dungy, and Tom Coughlin have all sent the 'Genius' packing over the course of those same three NFL seasons. From 1988 through 1990, the New England Patriots were mired in a seventeen consecutive home game blackout streak. In fact, the Patriots played in front of the four smallest home crowds in the entire NFL, during the 1990 season. One thing that is certain, just as the Kennedys wanted Chappaquiddick to go away, New England Patriots nation has a burning desire to make Spygate* disappear, as well. The only place on earth that these three Super Bowl championships are not at all tainted, is right here in New England.

It's a self-funded book written by a weirdo in Epping, NH. "Author Ken Knight" might be overstating his qualifications a bit.

I think my 5 year old drew the cover. Its not even worth acknowledging. You can smell the frustration and jealousy oozing from the synopsis.

</span>'New England Bandwagon Nation' by Ken Knight was born and raised in Massachusetts, but has never been a fan of the New England Patriots. “
“This book is sure to create a whirlwind hail ofcontroversy. This book is geared towards avid NFL fans.”(not in nobody reads it!!)
The Truth About Patriots Fans: "New England Bandwagon Nation" | Bleacher Report “From the Pats’ 17-game television blackout streak to record-breaking attendance totals in seasons following a Super Bowl appearance, Knight drives home his point about fair-weather fan support in New England.”

If you have to go back 20 years , under prior ownership to show fair weather support, it sort of undercuts your premise……

“Thanks to the NFL, we will never know how much of Tom Brady's success can be attributed to the "Spygate" scandal.”
Ugh puleeeeze. They went 18-1 and were one miracle catch away from 19-0 under immense scrutiny post- Spygate and 29-6 if you add in this past season with a first time starter at QB…..

In today's day and age of cheap publishing costs and Internet, anyone can write a book and publish themselves. Word Association Publishers is a company that will publish anyone's book as long as you pay for everything. Here's what the guy had to pay to get this book published:

Self Publishing with Word Association--Pricing

Considering it is the 621,059th best selling book on Barnes and Noble and that is the only place it is selling, I fear this will be on the top of NY Times best seller list in no time and will expose Belichick and all of us as the frauds we are.

Seriously, what kind of person would waste his time writing a book obsessing on a team he hates and then pay $1000 or more to get it published. He would have had to sell about 80 books to break even if he took the royalties option and didn't pay for additional services other than the cover. I am guessing the book will still lose him money.

Seeing as its sales rank on Amazon is only in the 200,000s, I don't think too many people have read it.

I am shocked that a die hard Jets fan on Bleacher Report would give this book a glowing review. Even based on this overly biased review, I could see this book is crap.

Yeah, we know prior to Parcells coming to the Pats, attendance sucked with the Pats. Not exactly Earth shattering news. Apparently that is all the book has. Even this reviewer asked why the writer only compared the Pats' attendance records to the Packers. Why not the Indianapolis Colts' who had as bad or worse attendance prior to Peyton Manning?

It is funny that the author is an avid Vikings fan and feels self righteous about Spygate considering Jeramy Green admitted his father used to pump in crowd noise into the Metrodome (granted he retracted that statement when a sh%tstorm rained down).

Does "Ken Knight" mean "punch me in the face" in some other language?

What a stupid title. News flash: when a team wins it gets more fan support. Bandwagon fans is the stupidest concern or point of contention in sports.

I saw ir a few weeks ago...did not want to even dignify its existence after I skimmed through it all..More like a cross between a troll and a jealous REd Sox fan...GARBAGE!!!!

Ask Ken about the New York Yankees attendance in the 1990's before Jeter and gang came along. What about the Bulls before and after Jordan? Every team has its hard core fans along with bandwagon fans. No one stays as engaged with their team when they stink (hard core fans included) A bandwagon fan to me is someone that actually either stops watching when the team is down or actually changes teams. The Pats are the current hot team in Sports this decade so it stands to reason we would have a high number of newbies. How does Ken think the Cowboys became America's team? The moniker was built on bandwagon people from across the country. Some fans start as bandwagoners as kids but remain loyal (which is fine) The only way for Ken to prove his hypothesis is to see the Pats go through a lengthy downturn and see vast amounts of empty seats. This will not happen in the next 10 years.

I'm interested. Does this book come in roll form. 1000 sheets..........."pages" to a roll?

So no one in this 2 page thread(at this time) has actually read the book.
That was the OPs question.
Everyone is just making assumptions based on the title I take it.
Perhaps the title is a truth that is coming to close to home ?

Hits close to home? As people have mentioned, there are bandwagoners for every winning team. Mike Bibby called Celtics fans bandwagoners, yet the Hawks could not draw flies to their home gym during the regular season.

The Patriots have been selling out games since 1994, I believe.

There is truth to his statement that the 1988-1990 Patriots did not have good attendence.

The issue people are taking in this thread is that saying that there was poor attendance in 1990 and sellouts from 1994 to the present means that New England fans are bandwagon fans compared to the rest of NFL fandom.

Many teams have been selling out for years, in good times and bad, including the Patriots. I don't recall the Pete Carroll years as being a shining example of top notch football, and BB was 5-11 in 2000, yet the Patriots sold every seat in the stadium every game. How can that be bandwagonism?

I'm sure there are a LOT of fans who hate the Patriots as does this guy and maybe yourself. I sure hated the Cowboys in the 90's. Hated them so much I still dislike them.

If the Cowboys hadn't won so much I wouldn't have hated them, and if the Pats weren't the best team this decade, nobody would be hating on them, either.

It's funny. All the time I was beating down on the Cowboys in the 90's thinking I was giving it to them good, Cowboy fans, had they been aware of my presence, would have enjoyed it. Because they knew it was simple jealosy on my part, just as it is on your part and Ken Knight's part. You guys just don't realize it yet.
