That would be an extremely good draft in my Opinion. I'd even trade up to the mid teens for Lauranitis. I truly believe he solidifies the Defense for a Decade. :)

Then take another DE--> OLB candidate with the other second, and a OL or CB in three. and a backup NT in four.:D

I don't know much about Laurinaitis, but from what I have seen of Maualuga, you trade UP to get him if possible.

Also start looking at looking at the Bears' or Vikings' first round slots being traded straight up to the Pats for Cassel. IMO he makes either team an instant legitimate contender. I think he's especially attractive to the Bears, as they know that neither Orton or Grossman will EVER get them over the top and they need to contend now. Maybe either team would rather take a flyer on a Sanchez or Stafford, but I doubt it.

Maualuga is good but he is a two down ILB in my opinion. Round one is Too high for only a two down player.

Why do Patriots fans want to draft Mayo's backup in the first round? When looking for an ILB to pair with Mayo I compare them to Ted Johnson. Laurinitis is no Ted Johnson. Jasper Brinkley on the other hand.....

...is no Ted Johnson, but he's a lot closer than Laurinaitis and a lot cheaper.

Maualuga could play any LB position in the Pats' system IMO. Mayo and AD are the only sure starters at LB now. With Bruschi a backup at best next season and nothing but question marks with everyone else [including Vrabel], this team should draft Maualuga in round one if they can swing it.

Kiper has us taking Brian Cushing so looks like he won't be coming here.

So who would you take from that list?
If you want to assume the only available players for NE are those at #23 or later..

The conservative choice is Alphonso Smith.

A developmental choice is William Beatty at OT, he'd need a year to bulk up and improve his strength and technique.

The greater need is for a SILB and Clint Sintim is my #1 SILB target, he's got some risk since he's be converting from 3-4 OLB at VA, but he could always be part of the OLB rotation if he doesn't get it done inside.

A high risk/high reward possibility is WR Hakeem Nicks to develop behind Moss.

Laurinaitis is, at best, a late second round value for NE.

Word for word, this would be my post. :ditto::agree::yeahthat:

Not sure what's worse, me being in Box's head or him in mine. :eat3:

Hell just froze over - we agree. Now if you say Sean Smith in the 2nd, I'll start working on my will.:D

I have Utah's bowl game to watch yet, so we'll see if he can impress me.

Jasper Brinkley is going to be lucky to get drafted at all... He's certainly not 1st round material.

based on that list:

1 - tyson jackson
2a - william moore
2b - jonathan luigs

cut jarvis green, cut/resign vrabel, sign karlos dansby

William Moore is a gamble, I'd not spend a second on him. I'd take Woods or Mack over Luigs.

except that mack is at #34 so obviously not an option at 55

I like moore in round 2 much more than sintim in round 1........at least when it comes to risk

If vontae Davis can slide into the second round i'd be interested.
