{In New England, Michael Felger of Comcast SportsNet interviewed Cassel as part of Cassel's satellite media tour, and Comcast SportsNet has released the following Q&A from Felger's interview:

On talking with the Patriots about the future…
“No, they haven’t started discussions at all. We’re just kind of sitting here. I am working hard, but right now it’s just a waiting game really to figure out what is going to happen next.”

On returning to New England as Tom Brady’s backup…
If the situation is what it is, then I would accept it and I would continue to do what I have done my entire career which is work hard, put my best foot forward and continue to work on the things that I need to and put out my best effort.”

On whether he wants to play for another team
“I don’t know right now. Right now, I am just enjoying the off season. We are still fresh off the year. I am just excited about working hard and getting better and seeing what the future has to hold.”

Re: Cassell would accept being Bradys backup

At almost $15M I imagine he would but I wouldn't read much into what he's saying now, however he really feels he's just being diplomatic for now.

Re: Cassell would accept being Bradys backup

Talk about from the outhouse to the Penthouse.

Re: Cassell would accept being Bradys backup

That comment means nothing since it's basically a financial impossibility unless Cassel takes much less than he could get on the open market.

Re: Cassell would accept being Bradys backup

For all his frustration, Bledsoe was nothing but a class act on the field and in public after losing the start to Brady. It appears Cassel will follow suit, should the circumstance arise. How many teams could you see that happening?

No wonder the media hates them.:D

The eternal paradox:

When Cassel gives us the politically correct answers, we wish we knew what he really felt.

If he told us how he really felt, we would wish that he took the high road and gave the politically correct answer.

Go figure.

Sure, I would like to know how he really feels, but I'm glad that he gave politically correct answer.

On being a short order cook in Revere...
"Well you never about the future so I've been working really hard at that too. Chowdah, Burgah, Chowdah, I'm excited about this! Wicked Pissah, Cahn Staach, Buttah. I could be a franchise cook. The world is my oystah!"

What's the "News" here?

Matt is saying all the right things and handling himself as a (soon to be very rich) professional.

What did we expect? That he would suddenly morph into TO?

Re: PFT: Cassel says "This is Tom's team"

i would give a lot to have this situation come up in 5 years, instead of now

at which point we could make the transfer over to cassel

but he is right, this IS tom's team, and i HIGHLY doubt we will have both next yr

and honestly, i woudlnt want cassel to accept a back up role at this point, not even if it helps the pats...he can be a legit starter in the NFL, and so he should be

I'll say this, assuming Cassel leaves the AFCE and preferably the AFC, he'd be easy and fun to root for when not playing us. All class. And you can bet this adds to the interest of teams who take character into consideration.

Typical bland New England Patriot interview. That's how we like it. Don't give the media anything!

The idea that Bledsoe was a class act was only a result of his real attitude and actions being hidden from the public.

Exactly. By all first-hand accounts he was a Grade A douche about the benching.

Gotta look back now and think, "Well, Clearly I'm not as good as that. Guess the Belichick guy is pretty smart".

Agreed but Bledsoe was in a completely different situation losing his starting job. How can you be a class act when your job is at stake? Atleast Bledsoe didn't create a media frenzy, and for that I give him credit.

That being said I hate bledsoes guts.
