No one here mentioned the part of the conference when Ryan said that he "Guarantees that the Jets will be visiting Obama in the White House" and he guarantees that the Jets will win a super bowl before america selects a white president again

Racism is on the fringe there if you ask me - Ryans mouth is bigger than the talent on his team, thats for sure

======================================================

Dude, that is a horrible misrepresentation of what Ryan said, why would you claim this?

Why label the guy a racist just because you hate the Jets?

Unfrigginbelievable, this post is borderline evil.

Shame on you PFP.

Rex takes the podium and I'm paraphrasing, "with all the cameras he was expecting to see the new President. He then said that's OK we'll get the chance to meet him a couple of times the next couple of years"

That was it, never mentioned Obama nor a black or white president.

iam surprised this hasnt been picked up the media as much. he may be a good coach but guranteeing a SB in 2 yrs and talking like "whose boot gonna be on whom" etc is strange for someone who is yet to coach a game. i bet media will call it "refreshing and honest". Even someone like parcells doesnt talk this much .
I am reminded of the balt game last yr where the ravens defense melted down and blamed everyone but themselves by throwing the refs flag away ,bart scott i think it was. If thats the kinda team he builds , then it will be interesting to watch.

He never said that, Ryan never offered a guarantee.

Ryan is confident and ****y, and I do find that refreshing and honest. He is a good DC, time will tell if he can be a good head coach.

His press conference was open an honest and full of bravado, Ryan said more in 30 minutes then Mangini did in 3 years.

We'll see in a years time what happens, if he does get them going fair play to him. However IMO one of the worst things a coach can ever do is mouth off. If it goes t!ts up he's going to look a d!ck and be crucified in NY, just adds more pressure on the team too.

"We will be seeing the president in 2 yrs anyway" . what is that ? Sure no one followed up on it asking if its a gurantee or not.
The lingustics dont matter ,what iam saying is he is so much self proclaiming as the next great coach which is odd.
Yes mangini didnt say much in 3 yrs but BB has not said anything in 8. Saying a lot vs saying nothing doesnt mean much in the end. Maybe its better to say less but that depends on the personality so i will accept that. But his comments like this and how they will swipe of the other team and falling for francesa's boot comment which was amaterish at best are odd. Yes its refreshing for some but i would rather have the guy do something as a HC first.

Fair enough.

I think that this is just the way the guy is, he does not come across as calculating like Mangini. He is one of those guy's that will always speak there mind. What he says's or has said will no doubt come back to bight him some day. He reminds me of his Dad, he is old school.

It is fair to say that the Jets have turned a 180 on trying to emulate the Pats, which is good because the Jets sucked at trying to be the Pats.

As Jet and Pat fans it should not surprise me that we take the context of his PC differently. I liked it, you did not, that is I suppose how it should be.

yeah but iam not sure how many coaches in the league including the biggest media critic parcells would say such stuff..not really about being used to the pats. just a little strange .maybe he may turn out to be totally different than everyone in the league but could also end up being wade phillips who talks a lot quite a bit like this.

Meh, he's displaying confidence (as misguided as it may be). No problem with it here. What is he supposed to say? "Gee, I hope BB goes easy on me the two times a year he beats me." Let him fantasize about winning a Super Bowl...we all know the truth. The Jets are the Jets. They will find a way to break thier fans hearts.

Talking is one thing and doing is another. Let Rex talk. Bill Belichick will be busy doing.

Can Jets coach Rex Ryan coach as good a game as he talks? -- Newsday.com

This is one of several articles that said similar things - Read the article

While I have not actually seen the press conference,I can believe Ryan is a big enough goof to say something like that

My apologies PFP, I read the article and Wallace Matthews the writer saiid to start the article

The new head coach starts out by guaranteeing his Jets will get to the Super Bowl before America elects a white president.

"I think we'll get to meet [President Obama] in the next couple of years," he says.

He waits a beat for the laugh, because Rex Ryan knows that is the first real guarantee made by a member of the Jets organization since Joe Namath guaranteed victory in Super Bowl III 40 years ago this month.

This Wally Matthews puts his own words in Ryans mouth.

What Ryan said was...

First off, with all the cameras I was looking for our new president back there [smiling]. I think we'll get to meet him in the next couple of years anyway.

Hardly a guarantee.
Reporters can be such scum bags.

Was in the running for the Ravens job last year, they would know him better than anyone. Instead they pick an outside special teams coach. That says a lot to me. More than his hyperbole.

Find a tailor to alter your suit...you messy fat f**k.
I hate him already.

Maybe he can hook up with Bilichecks tailor, lol.:)

If he was a Pat you would love him.;)

I admire your brave attempt to put lipstick on a pig, but that bloviating porker would NEVER cross the Krafts' radar screen. I'm sorry for the continued heartache awaiting you guys. Why don't you just defect and root for the Patriots?

I disagree. He will be crucified anyway if the team is not good. hell, Mangini was crucified and he had 2 winning seasons.

Charlie Weiss during his tenure as Pats OC was one of the most out of shape, hideous creatures to grace this earth
