ESPN posted 17-32 on their Insider section. Not asking for the whole list, but who does he have the Pats taking?

Mel Kipers Mock draft

The biggest suprise I see is Tampa picking Josh Freeman at #19.

Michael Oher slipping to #28 is also a suprise. I have seen him go in the top 5 of quite a few Mock drafts.

San Diego picking Knowshon Moreno #16 is not a shock to me.
LT looks washed up and will probably get cut or traded.
Sproles is a FA and at his best when he is not an every down back.
Hester (drafted in the 3rd last year) is a good player- not a great player.
He may stay at FB.

Brian Cushing, LB from USC.

I'm not an 'Insider' either - the last thing I would want to do is give BSPN my money - but I found this from a google search that led me to a Jaguars fan forum

Cushing would be sick......Gotta love the USC LB.

From what I have seen from the senior bowl and how LT is valued so much I would say he would not make it past the top 15.

Found 1-16 on a Chiefs forum also if anybody is interested.

i think he meant LB

I figured he meant that but I would value LT more than LB so I hesitated and thought maybe he had a point that did not come thru.

Maybe he's referring to Oher? :confused2:

Re: Mel Kipers Mock draft

As long as Cushing is clean in terms of the allegations on how he got bigger I wouldn't have too big of a problem with that pick. Has there been any article or link that definitively exonoreted him?

That being said if Oher is a franchise LT and he drops to 23, I don't see how the Pats wouldn't take a long hard look at him first.

The other choice here is Laurinitis. Although I'm not a fan of taking an ILB high and I project Laurinitis to ILB, if he's a 'complete' linebacker that is a fit for the system, he could get some consideration by the Pats as well.

The shocker pick here would be Lesean McCoy of Pitt. The guy is a really talented RB who has produced a ton of offense at the college level. He also has good size at 5-11 210 lbs.

I'm also pleased to see no safeties gone here, meaning the Pats can likely pick up the one that they like in round 2.

Re: Mel Kipers Mock draft

Interesting he has Laurentis and Maluga lasting as long as they do.. If we do get a late 1st round from Minny or Lions.. it would be nice to snag Cushing and a Laurentis or Maluga.

Re: Mel Kipers Mock draft

Yep - id take Cushing

If Tampa want a QB why wouldnt they go after MC and offer their 2nd?

Because Kiper doesn't include trades in his mocks.

Because that would mess up Mels Mock....seriously though I think with a Mock it is best to stay away from speculations on trades whether that is where a Cassel may wind up or just a pick swap.

I'm almost certain Detriot will pick a WR

If Oher is available that late in the round, I'd like to see the Patriots go in that direction.

Re: Mel Kipers Mock draft

I just posted it on another thread, but I'll repeat it here: If Oher is available when the Patriots pick, I think that's the way the team should go.

Also, if Raji's stock continues to rise and the Chiefs change to a new coach who goes with the 3-4, this draft board could become a jumble in a hurry if the Chiefs took Raji to be the anchor of their line. That would give them a foundation similar to the way New England built its line, with Raji and Dorsey being the Wilfork and Seymour for Kansas City.

Re: Mel Kipers Mock draft

This mock is garbage, IMO. I don't see any way Sanchez goes in the top 3 and I also don't see any way Knowshon Moreno makes it to #15. I do love that he has us taking Cushing. Hopefully he is spot on with that. But, other than that pick, you can pretty much throw this mock away.
