I don't think this will happen although I'd be intrigued by the possibility. Seems like a bright mind whose offense did well despite a should be mistake prone QB and two WR's who can't stretch the field at all. I think they may have gotten the rumor from this pft blurb. Rumors can be so circular these days that WFAN probably read it on PFT too and repeated it.

If Belichick sees it, then he sees it. I didn't see much of anything that I liked out of the Jets' offense the past couple years, but it's hard to say who's to blame for that. The Jets have fielded some seriously crappy QBs, and overall offenses, the last couple of seasons.

I dunno, the Jets had a pretty awesome DC for a couple years there, and he was a really awesome head coach for them for about 24 hours.

It was Mike Francessa who said it. Hes the one guy on radio I actually believe has sources. The other goons usually know nothing, but hes good, I trust his sources

I'll believe it when I see it. Schottenheimer runs a mix of the West Coast offense and Marty Ball. He is conservative as crap. Doesn't seem like a fit in New England. I don't see Belichick hiring him.

If Belichick does hire Schottenheimer, I won't be thrilled. But I will give Belichick the benefit of the doubt that he knows what he is doing. Maybe the conservative crap was because Mangini likes to play not to lose a lot.

It's sometimes hard for us to guess how much of the offensive plan gets screwed up or fixed up by the HC, and how much of it is great planning and terrible execution. Also it's possible the OC sucks balls, too.

Still, I think BOB move is the answer to this one. Bill and Brady will school this dude in one year to be a monster OC. Then I guess he'll go coach the LA Lions or the California Bears.

Schotty earned lots of praise his first year with the Jets.

He runs a complicated O scheme with lots of QB audibles and misdirection, has quite a few gadget plays.

Last year the Jets had,,,,,,,,,,,,, nothing. Can't hold Schotty responsible.

2008 Schotty got Favre and had to throw out his whole playbook to play Favre ball.

The Jets value him, but there is a rumor the Jets told Schotty that if he did not get the head job that he could explore other opportunities.

Jets were up like 42 to 3 against the Cards at half, then won after giving up about 40 points in the 2nd half.

Schottys O looked good against the Titans also.

All I am saying is I think Schottenheimer is going to be a head coach someday, he appears to be a good football mind, I blame Favre for making Schotty look bad this year.
