I just cant stand these other teams capitalizing while TB is out.I want TB to get that elusive 4th ring.He needs to be back in 09 and healthy. It would be a shame if he doesnt.

Is this really worth it's own thread?

He better be back ..... or else !!!

That is why last 2 years were important, good chance he could had 2 more rings, and who knows we dont play KC to open the season , bernard pollard does not hit Tom Brady , Matt Cassel is thinking about CFL... If and buts, and just a bunch of wondering..

The one thing we can agree on, if Tom Brady does not play in 09, its not a shame , its down right tragic... Tragic for us fans , not to see probably the greatest Pat to ever put on a uniform, Tragic for the leauge not to have the best player playing, and Tragic for the Pats and all because if he is done in 09 2 years out of the game it may be it for him, and that is nothing to be happy about..

I have a gut feeling Brady won't be back next year:(. This injury just has too many question marks associated with it. I'm constantly checking the rotoworld updates every week or 2 on Brady and keep seeing sad reports on his conditioning. I know you can't put much stock into blogsites, but what else can we go by? You've got Matt Cassel who's proven himself already and I think still has some ceiling left to his game, the Pats will still be a formidable team in 09

But it would be a devastating blow to the NFL to not have Brady in uniform. He's meant everything to the Pats success and really is the greatest athlete in Boston sports history.

Personally, I was hoping he'd take 2009 off so he would be ready for 2010 well rested. It could be an uncapped year and I want him well rested since he could have three or four future HOFers to throw to if Kraft opens the wallet. In 2009, he will just have Moss and Welker to throw to - BORING!

Cassel's getting moved regardless of Brady's status.

As for Brady, the doomsday scenario in which he is out for 2009 is still just that, a doomsday scenario. Curran himself has reiterated a number of times that he - in his report saying Brady was behind schedule - never said Brady would be lost for 09, only that he could be delayed. The only way he's missing all of '09 is if he has another ACL surgery.

My gawd, You have not seen any good news on Rotoworld????

Goodness - Brady is done. All the question marks!!! All the sad reports!!! Written by all the credible sources.

That e-mail defines: The Sky is Falling.

Here ya go - There is ONE guy in the world that we should all listen too - and that's Tom, He said

"I would like to thank everyone for the well wishes and support
you have given me throughout my career. It has been
particularly helpful during these past six weeks. It is great to
know you are all behind me, not only during the good times, but
also during the challenging times. On October 6, I had surgery to
repair my knee from the injury that took place four weeks earlier
in our season opener.
The surgery went well and my doctor described my knee as
"rock solid." Unfortunately, in the week following the surgery, I
developed an infection. The infection is very treatable and,
through a course of antibiotics, it will be knocked out of my
system. We were proactive with the infection and the doctors
went in for a second procedure this past Wednesday to clean and
to test the wound. The results of the tests have all been positive
and we are very thankful. I am excited to begin rehabbing my
knee and will continue preparing for 2009. I'm looking forward to
supporting my teammates throughout the rest of this season, as
we strive to achieve the goals we set as a team months ago.
Thanks again for your letters and well wishes. The support has
meant so much to me during these past few weeks.
I encourage all of my young fans to keep your bodies and minds
as fit as possible and to deal with whatever challenges you may
face. We never know what life is going to throw us. The best
offense is to be prepared whether for the next school test, the
next game, or for an unexpected challenge.
Thanks again -TB"

And if that ain't enough to - Listen to the OTHER guy that you might want to give a little respect, Dr. James Andrews:

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has had three surgeries on his injured left knee, the last two in recent weeks to battle a rare infection stemming from the repair of two torn ligaments.

According to a renowned orthopedist who was consulted by Brady’s surgeon, Dr. Neal ElAttrache, the quarterback appears to be responding to antibiotics and doctors are confident his recovery timetable for his ligament graft has not been compromised.

“What I gather from talking to Neal today is that Tom’s getting better, and what has been done is getting him well,” said Dr. James Andrews, widely regarded as the country’s pre-eminent sports orthopedist.

“Optimistically, once you get this under control and you can save that graft and win the infection battle – which apparently from what I gather he is winning – once the healing process catches back up, it really doesn’t set him behind to any degree relative to the overall healing process. The main thing is to save the graft.”

The surgeries were performed in L.A. by ElAttrache of the Kerlan-Jobe Clinic. When the infection appeared, ElAttrache consulted with Andrews, whose patients have included Peyton Manning and Michael Jordan. Andrews has a clinic in Birmingham, Ala.

“Neal called me in confidence to run this problem by me to see what I thought,” Andrews said by phone. “We went over that, one, he should be aggressive about going back in, don’t wait on it, don’t let [the infection] continue to declare itself. Get it washed out and scope it. And I said he’d probably have to re-scope it several more times to make sure he got it under control.”

ESPN, citing unnamed sources, reported the Patriots were upset because they wanted Brady’s surgery done by doctors of their choosing. The club denied the report.

Likewise, Andrews said Brady made the right decision in selecting ElAttrache. “[Neal is] very knowledgeable and as good a decision maker in taking care of athletic injuries – including complications – as anyone in the world.”

The thought has crossed my mind that if we somehow were to get Asomugha on this team, that the Patriots will have created as dominant an NFL team that could ever be created. I know its still a longshot to get him, but its time to put a truly elite defense along this all-time greatest offense, whether thru draft/trade/free agency. I still have my sights set on a few more rings with this Brady-BB combination. Dynasty Part 2.

Russell,Bird and a host of other Boston sports legends have a genuine say in that

Funny, other than Tom Curran's piece and his follow up piece that didn't provide any additional information, I haven't heard any negative reports on Brady's conditioning. Virtually everyone else is saying Brady is back on track and even ahead of schedule. Where are these reports coming from on Rotoworld. If Brady is spotted sneezing in public, this board is buzzing with three or four threads.

I honestly feel that the window is closing, and if the Steelers win this year, and get another one this decade, or pull a back to back, they will be considered the dynasty of the decade, no fluke 01 season, and no scandals...

The window is closing on this potential greatness... Simply put we were 1 loss away from being truly great... That would have solidified this team as an all time great, there is really nothing we can do from here on out that would have matched the greatness bestoed on this team that a perfect season would have been and it being the 4th championship in 7 years...

I think we have the ability to win 2 more before it's all said and done, but the Steelers are now in range to steal away everything the Pats have fought for...

3 straight years of "almosts" is killing them softly... Brady needs to come back, and if they don't win one within the next 2 years, then I believe the window is closed, and the run is officially over, and the next teams will have to forge their own legacy, but it will be too far removed from the 01-03-04 team to be considered the same team.

The window closed after 2 years? The run will be officially over? With Belichick still here and Brady still under 35?

Assuming Brady comes back as good as he was before his injury or at least close, the window for this team is about 5-7 years. Brady's skill set will allow him to play at an elite level into his late 30s barring more injuries or this injury setting him back. Belichick has proven he can win without Brady.

As for the Steelers, they are an older defense. For all the talk about the Pats' age on defense, the Steelers' defense may be older. Casey Hampton (31), Brad Keisel (30), Aaron Smith (32), James Farrior (34), James Harrison (30), and DeShea Townsend (33) are all starters over 30. They also have back ups over 30 including Orpheus Roye (34), Chris Hoke (32), Fernando Bryant (31), and Tyrone Carter (32). Their window may be shorter than the Pats.

Does it matter? Have you heard HIM say anything else? He addresses the Infection and the surgery.

EVERYTHING IS SPECULATION, aside from what Tom Brady has stated.

Yea, I'm sure Kurt Warner heard that song and dance a few times in the past three years as well. Where is he now? Oh, yea.

Guys... my goodness...

I'm not saying the pats can't win another championship, and brayd can't win another one...

I'm talking about the greatness that is the Patrio Dynasty of 01, 03, 04... If the Pats win another championship with Brady in 2013, it won't be linked with those other super bowls...

And if the Steelers win this one, and win another one, they will trump the Pats as the team of the decade becuase of their favorable standing in the media, and their large fan base and the fact that they have the most super bowls of any franchise.

I am looking at the legacy, when we look back, I want the Pats to be consided one, if not the, best team ever. Which every year of almosts that goes by threatens that.

I generally agree with mcgraw_wv that we blew the chance in '06 and '07 to nail the decade. Now we have just one more chance at a 4th; unfortunately if we don't get it all our SB will be in the first half of the decade, almost out of sight, out of mind. We're still the team of the decade unless Pittsburgh beats Arizona and wins next year but we didn't put the exclamation point on the decade like we were, oh, so close to doing.
