Ignoring what we could/may get for a trade with Cassel or trade down what position or player would make you happy with our first pick.
My pick would be a CB.

DB or OT. DJ Moore (CB), William Moore (S), and Sean Smith (CB/S) at DB. I don't like Vontae Davis - his performance/ability ratio scares me. Eben Britton or possibly William Beatty (if his stock rises) at OT, unless one of the top 4 OTs falls (Jason Smith would be nice).

Round 1:

WR- Maclin or Harvin or an OL to protect the franchise and increase the run game.

When we deal Cassel, I expect at least a 1 and 2 this year.

The first 3 rounds will bring a WR, at least 1 OL, a TE, a DL, a LB, a RB and a LB

rd 1-

Harvin and Laurinitis when he falls

rd 2-

Rashad Johnson, Max Unger and Shon Green

rd 3-

Mark Parson and Jarron Gilbert (comp.)

What do people think of Everette Brown from Florida State 6'4 and 250 pounds looks pretty fast not shore how he translate to OLB?

pre-FA... S or OT

CB. One shutdown guy would make a big difference in Foxboro.

I don't have a good handle on the draft class yet, but if I had to guess right now, I'd say Tyson Jackson.

(I must say I feel a bit binkyish about him.)

I don't have a name yet but it's got to be a secondary guy who can get his hands on the ball whether from Safety or CB. If he catches it, all the better, but we have to have more competitiveness throughout the secondary.

Ultimately, the answer will depend on what happens in free agency. However, I really like D.J. Moore and William Moore. I have doubts that either will be around at 23...

Paul Kruger would really help the pass rush. Although, he might be considered a "reach" at 23...

If we were to get a 1st round pick in the 20's for Matt Cassel then I could see us taking Kruger along with a DB or OT with our other pick. I think he will be a legitimate late 1st round pick, and that he has the athleticism, intelligence and character to potentially play the elephant. He's on my short list of players I would really like us to take a hard look at.

My elephant pick, which ofcourse would require a trade-up would be to draft and stand-up Michael Johnson. People talk about the corners, but I think our biggest need is the edge man, our corners will look a whole lot better after we fix this issue.

IF we can't get a great edge man and we sit at 23, if Moore is gone, I don't want to reach for a 2nd round OT, let's grab value and go with Harvin.

OLB/DE @ 23 will be a reach unless Aaron Curry, Everrett Brown or Michael Johnson falls to us. If FS William Moore falls to us, that would be a miracle. We just drafted Wheatley and Wilhite and Bill seems to love Hobbs and I think we'll look to add some depth in FA with our DBs. I think we'll add some DE/OLBs and OLs in the second and third rounds because value seems to be better picking at those rounds with the talent coming out.

That being said, I think Bill will surprise people and pick WR this year. I'm the biggest Percy Harvin fan so it would be great if we get that guy. He'll provide instant impact and add some youth at WR.

Belichick woud have moved up for Taylor Mays. But he isn't coming out.

Lauranitis when he falls within 5-8 positions, and then a simple move up.

I think BJ Raji is going to fall into our laps ... look for us to get a second #1 pick for Cassel and that would be Max Unger.

What do you think bout George Selvie is it?

What about Clint Sintim from UVA @23? He seems like he could be a great 3-4 OLB.

I'm with you on this one.
Most LB's are not going to contribute with the Pat's in their first year. One of the guys we have might step up (Pittsburgh's defensive MVP was undrafted) so there's hope. Defensive line is solid.
It seems like the very good defensive teams can wreak havoc because of their secondary.
The offense is not even a consideration with the first pick, unless something unforeseen happens.
