RAVENS LOSS CREATES FOUR-WAY ROTATION FOR PATRIOTS DRAFT POSITION: With the Ravens losing to the Steelers in the AFC championship game, they will revert to their original draft position, 26th overall. The Ravens are part of a four-team cluster with 11-5 records which includes the Patriots (23rd), Falcons (24th) and Dolphins (25th). Those four teams will rotate in each round of the draft. From a Patriots perspective, the team will pick 23rd in the first round, then will be in the 26th spot in the second round, and in the 25th spot in the third round and so forth. Had the Ravens advanced to the Super Bowl, they would have picked 31st or 32nd in each round regardless of their 11-5 record.

I would have liked a 32nd pick, but yea - Bill will like that.

The Wild Card is what will Cassel get us - High First? And then what will Billerio do with that pick.

23rd is a crappy position for a team that didn't make the playoffs, but when you consider that we went 11-5, you realize that it could have been worse. We should be picking 19th. Only 4 spots back from where we should be, so it's not the end of the world.

agreed. Its like the Pats are being punished for not making the playoffs. But im sure this has happened to other teams in the past. Its just the first time its happening to the Pats. So as BB would say: "It is what it is".

in 2006 the Bucs got Davin Joseph
in 2005 the Raiders got Fabian Washington

Ok not exactly the most memorable picks... but it depends on how good a team's scouting department is too. There are plenty of strong late 1st picks and the Pats usually draft well in the 1st round regardless.

It's a pretty goos spot to be picking in this year. There should be a number of solid LB/CB/OL to choose from. The one position I do not see available at that spot is safety.

Sadly .. id be tempted to use one of those lower picks to move up and pick up William Moore and hope Barwin, Simtim, Cushing is still availabe in the 2nd

We all went 11-5 so why should we pick first in every round? excpet that we didn't make the playoffs which they don't care about. but if all 11-5 teams made the playoffs and none made the SB it would only be fair that they rotate.

Vrabel will soon be transitioning into a rotation with Mayo and Guyton.

Adalius is getting older. We don't know what we have with Woods and Crable.

I'd go for the OLB who can get off the edge and create some mayhem.

Why are people projecting Vrabel inside now? If he has lost a step as so many claim, why would you play him at a position where he would be "less" effective? Whom do you project to play OLB in his place? Puzzled minds would like to understand?

At OLB you need to have speed and quickness to be able to get to the QB as well as excel in coverage. At ILB it is more about reading the play and finding your gaps which is more about smarts then athletic ability. I think that's why most (me inculded) expect him to transition to ILB. He has the smarts, but he just can't keep up in open space anymore.

I don't see anything wrong with what you said...that's the reason why Pittsburgh is in the Super Bowl...Edge Pressure! I want the Patriots to try and get Everette Brown or Aaron Maybin either would solve our problems.

On Moss and Welker i know we traded picks for them and loved the move for both players. I was just talking about the BB/Pioli Offensive Drafts...they have hit on quite a few Busts in that department...ie Bethel Johnson - Chad Jackson - Ben Watson - Laurence Maroney and Dave Thomas just to name a few.
