Spags is the new HC for the Rams

Have to wonder how this will affect the Vagiants. That was a pretty crazy D.

ProFootballTalk.com - REPORT: SPAGS TO THE RAMS

NY Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo will be the new head coach of the St. Louis Rams.

The Rams and Spagnuolo are currently negotiating the terms of his contract and indications are that we can expect the announcement of the hiring later today.

At this time no news conference is planned for Saturday at Rams Park.

Spagnuolo, 49, was the Giants defensive coordinator in 2007 and 2008 and came up with the game plan that resulted in five sacks of Tom Brady and a shocking upset of the undefeated New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII.

Before that, Spagnuolo learned his trade under acclaimed Philadelphia defensive coordinator Jim Johnson, working as an Eagles defensive assistant from 1999-2006.

Rams GM Billy and Spagnuolo have been friends for many years and that relationship obviously created a trust factor that helped Spagnuolo feel comfortable about taking the Rams job.

Spagnuolo wowed the Rams' brass with a presentation in Los Angeles on Thursday.

Congrats to Devaney and Rosenbloom.

Link???

And that is interesting since Garrett was supposedly headed there.

Re: Spags is the new HC for the Rams.

Probably going to be the next "big name" offensive/defensive coordinator to crash and burn. The "if you don't know what it is, blitz it" scheme can only work for so long before you're toasted.

Re: OT: Rams hire Steve Spagnuola

i think he has a great defensive football mind. im curious to see how he does coaching the entire team. i think its a good pick for that franchise. much better than jason garrett

I heard the Jets wanted him.
Now who are they going to get?:singing:

Probably some no-name rumpswab. I can see any big name coach coming in to attempt to clean up that mess. Knowing the Jets, the next head coach hiring will most likely be an epic failure.

Re: OT: Rams hire Steve Spagnuola

Probably gonna be that Ryan dude is it Rex?

Doubt he was the Jets top choice, otherwise they would have moved to hire him earlier in the week.

The Jets are pretty clearly focusing on Rex Ryan.

I hope the R-A-T-S hire Rex Ryan who, like his brother & his father, is too undisciplined to be an effective HC. The Ryans allow the inmates to run the asylum; always have, always will.

Finally, someone else loses a coach. Well the Giants were already crashing and burning towards the end of the season, and the test for them has just begun *evil laugh*.

My friend the Eagles fan told me just a few days ago that the Giants had Spagnuolo signed to one of those deals where he automatically became head coach after Coughlin leaves and couldn't go anywhere else. Guess he was wrong.

Course as we saw with BB, those agreements aren't necessarily binding. :D
