Just announced on NFLN.

Whoa , what a crazy offseason man lol...

Holy crap-cakes. "Love You Bro" to the Pats threads in 5... 4... 3...

Wow, that was unexpected.

I wonder if they will try to go Shanahan or Cowher.

Stupid move at a stupid time. I wonder if they have somebody in mind. Wouldn't surprise me to see Gruden land another job right away.

Guaranteed there's a thread on Jetsinsiders by dinner.

He's actually a decent coach, imo.

this reminds me of sd firing marty, cept gruden didn't just go 14-2, and gruden actually has won a sb

but this timing seems pretty off

Hope he doesn't end up with the Jets.

This is a crazy offseason for the NFL.

I have a feeling the Pats will be making huge moves too, just like when we missed the playoffs in 02 and in the offseason we cut Milloy and picked up Rodney.

Crap. Hope the Rats dont go lookin his way. I'd hate it if the Pats had to face Chuckie twice a year.

I now officially rescind my Cassel to the Bucs assumption.

That is surprising.. If I am not mistaken, the only team that hasn't named a new coach is the Jets... so, its not like Gruden would have a lot of options..

However, there are rumblings that Jerry Jones could part ways with Wade Phillips. And Gruden would be a candidate to take over.

Two big name coaches get axed after two big time late-season choke jobs.

They fired GM Bruce Allen too! Wow.

Except that they didn't cut Milloy in the "off-season". They cut Milloy at the end of training camp. 5 days before the game against Buffalo. And its not like the Pats wanted to cut Milloy. They have very little choice. Because of injuries at the end of camp, the Pats were more than 2 million over the cap. Because the Pats had already made changes to the contracts of Ted Johnson, Tedy Bruschi, Richard Seymour, and Willie McGinest, there were only two contracts they could change to get under the cap. That of Lawyer Milloy's or Ty Law's. Neither one was willing to accept an extension and have their cap hit lessened. So the Pats chose to part ways with Milloy. The player who had done the least the previous year.

I was reading this thread and was about to post the exact same thing. He would be a good coach for that team.

..and something is up here. They have someone in mind doing this and I think I know who....
