Interesting look at this but as we all know in here its a team game with no one as a really special standout on this team other than Brady - Tom may be the only player of a 3x champion team to get to Canton while Buffalo may send multiple players on a team that was beaten in the SB 4X in a row

This makes sense given Scott Pioli philosophy. He has never looked to get the player most likely to make the pro-bowl but the player most likely to help the team win a championship.

IMO Seymour will end up a HOFer, but if they only have 2, then so be it. The Pats were never about assembling a roster of HOFers anyways.

I'm sure if the Pats had the luxury of not having to contend with the salary cap as those late 80's/ early 90's Bills had they'd have been in much better position to sign and/or keep roster full of Caton busts like that era Bills team did.

Yeah, but doesn't the most important number--SB victories--trump anything else...I mean, who the F cares?

In addition, Belichick will most certainly go in, and my guess is Pioli will as well. Aren't those the three components of the run that everyone has said was the most important: the best executive, the best coach, and the best QB...everything else is dictated by what those three do so, naturally, they'll be fine if those three are as outstanding as Belichick, Brady and Pioli have been.

Not really. If anything it just gives them credence. Only one good player and 3 rings? Uh huh, how'd they do that? Oh yeah, that's right. That camera thing.

After rethinking this thread ... how many of the SB players would have had a better chance at HOF had they stayed with the Patriots would be a great thread.

I posted a number of years ago that Ted Bruschi should be given HOF consideration for what he did to help us win 3 SB's. On numbers alone his being in the HOF won't hold water ... but we know better ... same for Vrabel.
Also Willie Mac was so much better in his final few years here than his earlier years where he labored as the 'elephant'. When he was relieved of that role he excelled ... Willie played like a HOF type player especially intellectually.

As time passes people become more fond of and grow to appreciate teams of past eras. It's way too early to make any judgements on the Patriots and their potential HOF candidates.

This is one of those things that many fans of other teams seem to have great difficulty grasping. When discussion of how good the Pats have been and comparing them to other teams, invariably many fans start comparing the 'stars'. Stars are for fantasy football; real football is the ultimate team game and the number of pro bowlers or Hall of Famers is a very poor indicator of how good your team is/was.

If football excellence was predicated by the number of Pro Bowlers and future Hall of Famers, then the Raiders, Redskins and Cowboys would be among the teams being debated as the best of this decade.

A couple of years ago, Seymour sure looked as if he were on a HOF track. It's way too early to count him out.

Law is one of those guys who'd have made the Hall -- and probably had more rings -- if he'd stayed with the Pats.

Anyhow, there was so much turnover from one squad to the next that not that many guys really won all three rings. That's one of the modern-era factors ...

I'm NOT surprised at all.

The secret to the Patriots is the Belichick philosophy of building a permanent contender. He would rather have 15 or 20 red chippers rather than have one third that that number of Blue chip future HOF candidates. He will consistently blow your brains out, and will always be under the CAP. While you reach to keep that blue chip group together for a year or two at most; and get into CAP hell in the future.
