One or possibly two of the Patriots' "insiders" (Pioli, McDaniel) officially work for other teams. Assuming they have the goods on TFB's status, will that injury status become more public? I don't expect Pioli to come out and say: "Hey, everyone. Brady's hurt really bad and he'll be out in 2009." It's not in his best interest to share that info. But his actions as KC's GM and interest in Cassel might indicate how the Patriots perceive Cassel's role in 2009. Franchise to play, or Franchise to trade?

Also, hearing Pioli talk about the "Patriots Way" would lead me to believe he'll need a few Patriots character players (FA's?) around as "role models". Most likely high character/hard workers. A guy like Heath Evans comes to mind. Maybe Hochstein?

Thoughts?

If it was Mangini he would probably be holding a press conference on the subject. From what we have been hearing the last few days I highly doubt either of these guys are going to betray BB that way.

Would he be aloud to talk about another teams player medical condition? I doubt he knows alot.Bradys condition will change the more he rehabs. I think one of the reasons Brady was told not to be around the team is so Cassel wouldnt know how Brady was doing. I doubt Brady tells him alot.

In short, No, not from either of those guys. They probably are well versed in the adage; knowledge is power, and giving up / sharing knowledge with your opponents is reducing your power / ability to defeat your opponents.

I'm not suggesting he'd betray the Pats, but if KC shows interest in Cassel, one might assume the Pats might be Franchising/trading him...and that Brady might be a factor in 2009. Conversely, if they show no interest it *might* indicate that SP knows the Patriots' intentions to play Cassel in 2009.

They may have known Brady's status a week ago, but I expect they had a quick visit to Bills office before leaving town...

guess who knows the full story on Brady?

His doctor(s), his family, BB and Kraft

...there you have it kids...

Maybe if KC or Denver wows them with money, but I'm not sure I see it.

After the [2006] season, Evans, a native of West Palm Beach, Fla., expressed his desire to remain a Patriot.

"Fit-wise, it couldn't be more perfect," he said at the time. "I could care less about money. I'm a loyalist. They were good to me at a time the game of football wasn't."

I think that is a bit of a stretch. I guess if he shows intrest in Cassel one could assume that he will truly be available but just because he doesn't show intrest doesn't mean we have to be keeping Cassel it could just mean he has other plans at QB or he doesn't think Cassel is a fit for the Cheifs or a number of things that have nothing to do with us.

Re: Will Brady's prognosis become more public ?

I doubt Pioli or McDaniels will betray Belichick or Kraft and divulge any information on Brady's health status.

Shucks, I thought this was another thread on the Bundchen-Brady engagement.

Did any of us peg Mangini as a rat when he left New England? Just sayin'.

Re: Will Brady's prognosis become more public ?

Yes, if and when he starts the season on PUP.

No but we found out imediately as he tried to raid the coaching staff and take Patriot material out the door with him. It was ugly pretty much from the get go and I am basing my assumption off of the difference in comments and reports following the moves. Sure it is possible but there seems to be mutual respect here and I doubt things get ugly like with Mangini and either saying anything about Brady would be ugly.

But the OP's point is just that. He's arguing that Pioli and Josh are not part of the "public." Their actions or lack thereof might provide an indication of the true situation. If, for example, either were to actively pursue Cassel in the next few weeks, it would suggest that Brady's recovery is on track and that it is reasonable to assume that the Pats will be looking to cut some sort of a deal for Matt.

The converse is, however, not the case. It's possible that the Krafts and BB kept even these guys in the dark. Therefore, a lack of activity would only suggest that they, too, are going to wait and see like everyone else.

Agreed. They won't betray BB, but they might act in their own self interest on behalf of their new teams. They could actively pursue Matt if they know that Brady's recovery is on track without betraying any confidences, while indeed acting on "insider knowledge." That's not betrayal, it's just smart.

Different dynamic, if anyone wants to know the status of Brady just read TMZ.com... along with the society stuff in the Herald.

Belichick has said that [he feels] releasing injury information to the press is a violation of HIPAA and privacy laws. Don't know if McDaniels feels the same way, but I wouldn't be surprised.

I don't think it's unreasonable to think that Pioli and/or Josh may have some knowledge of the situation. That is, of course, by no means a certainty, but it's not an unreasonable idea.
