I honestly think that Pioli didn't go elsewhere in previous years or even to Cleveland this year because he was looking for something more from ownership. In hearing him speak today about the Patriots organization I believe he was looking for a solid family organization and not just a straight business/corporate type ownership. KC was a unique opportunity in that regard. Add in the rabid fans and you have a great situation.

In the end, thank god we have the problem that the other teams want our people. It sucks but having 31 other teams avoiding our guys like the plague is worse.

Though he probably was demeaning Belichick, I actually took it as a compliment. Guess BB is my kind of person......

Edwards is the anti-Bill Belichick.
Edwards is Barack Obama, a politician concerned with media and public perception. Belichick is Jack Bauer, a ruthless mercenary who deals with everyone on a need-to-know basis. Edwards’ main concern is his own survival. Belichick’s lone concern is the completion of the mission.

The impression I got from Pioli's presser is he would have been fine staying in NE, but his wife wanted to live in and raise their daughter in KC which is where she grew up so he made the job change to relocate to keep Mrs. Pioli happy.

KC has got everything you would want in a football team...except good players. the ownership is great and the fans are some of the best in football IMO. I think it is a good fit for him

I think after last year's SB loss; the for NFl standards, extended time on the job by the Belichick-led regime, let alone his own with N.E.; and the now in YR. 10 of the Brady career; it was obvious to him that the Patriot reign was somewhere on the back nine, and a perfect time to move on. However, the additional loss of Seely, even though apparently a slight promotion to the Browns, , could be more of a harbinger to the future than the Pioli departure. Though probably unlikely, the unheralded and loyal Seely going to dark side (Mangini) could signal Belichick's end game in New England is much sooner than later.
