There's talk that Mike Shanahan will sit out for a year, but what if Bill called him? The two have an open respect for each other. Why not a dream team coaching situation with one of the NFL's most brilliant offensive minds directing Tom Brady and crew?

It would also allow Shanahan to hit back at Denver, despite his press conference stating he bore no grudge against his former team and owner.

It's unlikely but could it be possible?

No. BB plans for the future...not for one yr and he believes in promoting and growing within

i seriously doubt shannahan comes here, or that BB even calls him...

but as most ppl think, BB will prob not name an OC this yr, and take more duties up himself while a young guy learns

why instead of no OC, he has shanahan show the ropes for the new guy...then that coach gets both BB and shannah mentors...

and then they split, and the young takes over for OC

bb isnt going to show competition like shanahan all the workings of the pats system just for him to leave next yr and join the jests or bills for e.g.

Maybe BB can use this on Shanny:

"Mike come on over and work with me as the OC for the Patriots for a couple of years. I need someone to maximize the talents of Brady, Moss and Welker so that we can re-write the record books and you are just the guy.

After a couple of Lombardi's I'll head upstairs as full time GM and you can take over as HC and together, along with the Kraft family, we'll shoot for another 5 Lombardi's over the next decade."

Bill would not hire Shanny ... it would be a media distraction ... the last thing Bill would want.

Perfect! :D

No and definately no if the following is true.

Not sure of the rules but the broncos are paying the remainder of Shanny's salary. Would they be off the hook if he taks another gig?

inner workings of the offense? not sure about that, but u may be right

well..everything, playbook, scouting reports etc. plus they are peers - i dont think shanahan would want to come and be under BB or for that matter anyone.if the minn owner is smart, he would fire the imcompetent childress and bring shanahan.obviosuly it wont happen.

too much ego involved on Shanny's part to accept a 'step down'

Yeah and we all remember the front office salary structure thing that pissed Weiss off before he left.

We do't need someone to change our offense, we merely need someone to execute BB's gameplan and take responsibility off of his shoulders. We can't have 2 kings in a monarchy.

It's my understanding that Shanahan is still receiving a huge amount of money next year because he was fired before his contract is up. If he takes a job with another team it nullifies that contract. Why would he take a job as an offensive coordinator, people who make a million a year tops, when he will make 5 million plus next year to sit around doing absolutely nothing?

Although Shanahan can wait it out and get handed a head coaching job this year or next, I don't see him investing his time to just be an offensive coordinator. However, I think he would be a great addition to the team and a lethal combo on the sidelines with Belichick.

No matter who the OC is next year, they'll probably be a rival head coach within the next 3-4 years.

Taking a job doesn't nullify the contract altogether, it just lets Denver off the hook for whatever his new employer is paying him. Your point still stands though, in that he'd basically be coaching for free.

My first thought, makes no sense.. he can sit on his ass do some media work and then decide to do something else in about 3 years..

I predict Shanahan goes to Indy.
