Sometimes I wonder how some of these radio guys get jobs. Gotlieb was talking about the Patriots and how he thinks Pioli leaving is the point where the dynasty falls apart. Now I have no problem with him arguing this. I don't agree with him, but I can see how someone can make that argument and don't begrudge him for making it. But he should have shut up there.

After that, he went on to explain why he thought that. He said whoever the Pats hire to replace Pioli will just be a puppet for Belichick. First, as a sports radio guy he should be aware that the Pats have already replaced Pioli. Second, anyone who has followed Belichick in New England can tell you that Belichick doesn't hire puppets who will just serve his bidding. Caserio will have almost as much input or maybe as much input as Pioli did. He may not initially while he is getting up to speed, but either he will get to that point or Belichick will replace him with someone qualified enough to get to that point.

Then Gotlieb goes on to explain whenever the head coach shops for the groceries, they fail big time. The example he decided to use was Parcells in Dallas and how Jones gave him total control and Parcells failed to win a playoff game. What planet was Gotlieb on where Jerry Jones gave Parcells total control? Yeah, Parcells was the one to decide that TO should become a Cowboy. That is why Parcells refused to even attend the press conference when TO was announced and I am convinced Parcells retired from coaching because Jones wouldn't cut TO.

Gotlieb also failed to acknowledge that Parcells actually got to shop for the groceries with the Jets and he took the 1-15 Jets to the AFC Championship game in two years, stole Curtis Martin from the Pats, and drafted players like James Farrior, Jason Fergusen, John Abraham, Shaun Ellis, Chad Pennington, and Laveranues Coles. He might have won a Super Bowl if he didn't decide to step down to promote Belichick to head coach to block Kraft from taking Belichick.

The funny thing is Gotlieb about ten minutes later said he knows more about sports than the listeners because it is his job to study sports.

Obviously he's a graduate of the Jason Whitlock School of Sports Journalism.

Gottlieb was a basketball player at Notre Dame. However, when he was a freshman, he stole his roomate's credit cards and racked up $900 in charges. He was tossed out of school and ended up at Oklahoma St. He holds a grudge against ND to this day.

He may know a little about basketball but nothing about football.

You know, sad as this is, it made me laugh. He holds a grudge against Notre Dame. Wow.

when there is no info or insight people say what they can think of. and the fall of the team like the pats is a more interesting story for them than saying they will be fine.If the new GM will be a puppet than so was pioli by that order because BB was the ultimate authority even then. If bb was a dictator then someone like Mcd wouldnt be a OC.
About parcells. yes they failed to win a playoff game in dallas but he made that team even competitive.
Frankly its a waste of time explaining this to anyone like this guy. if this dungy instead of BB you wont hear this argument. Failure of BB is the ultimate hope and story for them

look, EVERYONE but us wants to truly see th epats dynasty die...

they really do, and they will grasp at anything...now that Pioli is gone, he will be hailed like he was never b4...everyone will forget the negatives they said of him, and even truths of the situation, and proclaim him the core of the Pats....just so they can then go on to state that the Pats dynasty will die

there are polls here sometimes about weather or not the Pats dynasty of this decade is over...this is where the proof is found...ppl want to tear down the pats so bad, that u can tell by their actions that indeed we are still a dynasty, and the envy everyone else feels towards us is b/c of that

when everyone else truly stops hating the pats, and trying to bring them down all the time, then u will know that our dynasty is dead...until then, we will continue to hear hopefull wishes that every negative and every piece that leaves this puzzle known as the NE Patriots will FINALLY bring them down

im sorry that you have to listen to espn

I have not watched Espn or listen to Espn radio, except for some College basket ball and Celtic games, since Feb 3rd 2008... Sorry hate Mike and Mike, I still listen to the Herd, Tirco van pelt is a joke.. Others are just want to be sports guys... If I had a nickel that everyone said the dynasty is dead, I would buy espn by now.. seriously its a joke...

For some reason this bio reminds me of Matt Walsh.

I listen to ESPN radio in the morning on my way to work, because I can't stand D&C. If I wanted to listen to petty politics I'd turn on WBZ, and if wanted constant updates on 24, I'd shoot myself.

Frustrating sports talk is better to me than no sports talk. Thankfully it's a short commute either way :p

I don't know who this guy is but I can guarantee that I know more about the New England Patriots than he does. And we're doing just fine./

I remember watching him play against Kansas when I was back in the US in 98-99, he was a serviceable backup point guard. Small but good speed and court savvy.

I really enjoy Mike and Mike; by far the best national sports talk radio around. And they have fun while doing it (while rarely going over the top).

However, it doesn't surprise me that Gottlieb started with random conjecture that became fact the more he talked about it. Sports talk show hosts have a lot of time to fill and it's almost impossible not to do this to some extent. Does that mean it's right? Of course not. But it comes with the territory.

is that his stage name? ;)

It shows us how important sports are in American culture where ignorant humps who spew garbage out their faceholes continue to have jobs. No wonder so many people want to get into sport journalism, especially TV and radio: just talk, make up stuff, and if people get angry and respond, you get ratings. Yeesh.
