Went over to Chiefplanet and they are excited to say the least. Can't say I blame them with the team they have had the last 10 yrs or so. I can't remember when they last won a playoff game.
Anyone old enough to remember Hank Stram? He won their only SB. I believe it was SB4.
They have great fans and I hope he does well....except against us.
Most KC fans will be mad if he doesn't fire Herm from what I read.

KC fans should be excited, this is good football man, and will do great things for Kc, just hope its when Belichick and Brady retire..

Exactly, they should be excited. I lived in Omaha for a few years (97-02), which had it's fair share of Chief fans. They always wanted to really get behind the Chiefs, but never really had a reason to and thus put them on the back burner.

It seems like a good fan base, hope they have some good stuff to cheer over (as long as it doesn't come at the Pats expense).

It would be nice to see KC as a consistent power in the AFC again, since circa Hank Stram. I am going to officially, unofficially declare them my sixth favorite team, mostly based on uniform color. But not until they cut and or release, and or something else to Bernard Pollard.:D

to be fair, the Chiefs had a very good stretch from 1990 thru 1997 under Shottenheimer, winning more games in that period than any team in football.
They last won a playoff game in 1993, when they won 2 with Joe Montana at QB.

In 1995 they were the #1 seed with a 13-3 record when they lost at home to the Colts in the "Lin Elliot game". He missed 3 FGs. In 1997 they were the #1 seed again at 13-3 and lost to the eventual champion Broncos at home.
In 2003 they were the #2 seed behind the Patriots and lost the Colts in a shootout at home. And they made the playoffs in 2006.

Its a great football town thats been down the last couple of years under Herm. I expect Pioli to bring in the Iowa coach who he is close to, forget the name. And I will enjoy watching as he handles the upcoming draft.

The Patriots are always my #1 team, but now that I live here and Pioli is here the Chiefs will be my #2 choice.

btw, as I suspected and Pioli confirmed yesterday, a big part of his desire to come here was he felt it a great place to bring up his family. His wife Dallas grew up here when Bill Parcells coached out here and most of her family is from this area.

As far as Herm, he's toast. If not this season, there is no way he's getting a new contract next season. Like someone pointed out in a different thread, it's likely Pioli already has someone in mind who he can't grab till next season, so he's keeping Edwards until then.

Kansas City Chief fans have every reason to be excited, now they need a qb and a decent coach...

They are all so lucky! Hope they treat 'em right

Hank Stram: 'Keep matriculating the ball down the field boys.' One of the best lines ever. They had a microphone on him for the super bowl, SB4, as you said. He also called Lenny Dawson 'Leonard' sometimes. I didn't care for him back then because his team always pounded the p*** out of the Patriots, but now I think he was one of the best.

It's done largely for humor. For example:

Mangini will only last 3 years before he's fired and the Jets are searching for another "genious" head coach.

They get all excited in Jets land when he pulls a BB and brings in someone like Jerry Rice to give the troops a pep talk.

I fixed your post for you. :D

See? :)

I remember enjoying it his first year at Notre Dame when Charlie Weis was calling plays out of the Patriot playbook.
Now, it'll be fun to recognize a move from the Patriot FO playbook. "The Chiefs have traded the third pick in this years draft for (fill in the team)'s #2 and #3 this year and their #1 in 2010."

He was one of the best, he of "65 toss power trap" fame, but he had one of THE worst rugs I've ever seen, all that thing needed was a chin strap..............
