Game one of the Regualr Season:

Just for fun, no need for people to freak themselves out. Just curious as to what you guys think is gonna pan out going into our next season.

I picked TFB mainly since opinion won't make sure, but maybe picking him in polls like we're praying might help, ;)

#12 will be walking out to the huddle on opening weekend. Bank on it.

You said, Game 1, so I chose Cassel. Brady will be starting by early October. That's my guess.

I watched when Manning when started this season when he wan't ready. It wasn't pretty.

If patriots have a reasonable option over a not-ready Brady, then someone else should start. If Cassel were still on the roster and Brady were 70%, I would want to rest Brady a couple of more weeks. I expect Belichick to have a QB on the roster who will start if Brady isn't ready. It is certainly possible that Brady will not play in any pre-season games, except perhaps in the last one.

Of course, I expect Brady to be 100% for Game One. I can say that, but I don't know how reasonabke such an expectation is.

IMO no way Cassel's even on the roster by game 1, whether brady's healthy or not. If they need a QB to stand in for a couple games, I wouldn't be shocked if it ended up being O'Connell. I agree that it wasn't pretty when Manning started before he was healthy, but Manning also had those surgeries weeks before the season and, IIRC, missed pretty much all of training camp.

Question is...Will he be able to go back to the huddle once the second quarter of the first game in 2009 arrives

Have Tom Brady start, trade Matt Cassel, sign Damon Huard to backup Brady, let Kevin O'Connell learn from both.

Isn't Culpepper going to be a free agent again? I know many people on this board were desperate to pick him up back in September. Now is our chance. Granted, he is going to be a hot commodity after all those wins he got in Detriot.

I picked TFB, though my only caveat is his health and readiness. If he's ready he's The Man. If he's not (and the Pats will know this way ahead of us) then they'll have another QB lined up. Who that QB is remains to be seen. Considering how events here seem to be unfolding I wouldn't be surprised to see MattyIce gone after draft picks and other assorted goodies reign down upon Foxboro:singing:

If TFB is only a couple of weeks away from starting that's one thing. OTOH if there's any truth to the rumors he's behind and could even be out:eek:, then the starter question could get real interesting.

There is no one on this board suggesting that Brady should start if he is healthy and ready. The issue is to guess what the situation will be for Game One. My GUESS was that Brady wouldn't be ready and that an unnamed veteran would start.

If theres any question that Brady is going to miss most of 2009, Cassel will be the starter, and he'll be the starter long term.

I never said anyone thinks Brady will start if not ready,I was merely replying to the thread:cool: I also agree with your previous post:confused: lol.geesh.

O'Connell might start the first game or two, but no more than that -- which means I'm voting for Brady.

That was my thinking too-O'C if TFB's only out a week or 2,or even 3. I don't believe Brady's out for 09 anyways but that's just my take. xfingers crossed babyx

Yeah, the poll is simply for fun and speculative, cause really that is all we can do until the last part of training camp which should give the organization a better feel as to who the starter is going to be.

My guess is that it is going to be Brady...

I don't think Cassel will start here. He'll be starting on another team.. If Brady isn't fit enough for Game 1, we'll have Kevin O'Connell starting. BB may run the ball a lot and ask Kevin to throw very short passes 3 - 4 yards or screen passes.

If Brady is ready by Game 4 or 5, we should be all set, even with Kevin.

Until all hell breaks lose I am going on the assumption Tom will be fine and when he is no one else is better.
