With the Giants loss on Sunday the ''team of the decade'' honor has been sewn up. I suppose it's possible that Pittsburgh could win it this year and next year but the fact that we beat them on their turf twice this decade in the AFCC game eliminates them as well.

Between 2001 and 2008 the Patriots have a 111 -34 record, that includes 14-3 in the playoffs. There is no doubt in my mind that we are TEAM OF THE DECADE.

We have broken every record along the way, too many to mention.

Thoughts?

Yeah! We won the decade! Wait a minute, it's too early. We need to take this thing one ... year ... at a time.

I have to agree, epsecially the back to back 2003 & 2004 seasons, were as dominant I've seen a team (maybe ever). 17-2, two seasons in a row, 34-4 total, with two of the most difficult schedules. In 2004, The Pats D held the #1 offense, Indy, to 3 points (Indy was the first team ever, to score over 500 points in the regular season, and not score a TD in the playoffs). Then, in the AFCCG, to score 41 points against the #1 defense, on their field. Then they beat the #2 defense (The Eagles were tied with the Pats for #2) in the Super Bowl. One key point to remember, The Pats were without their starting CB's the whole playoffs ! People forget, the Pats had plenty of injuries in 2003 & 2004.

People don't give this Dynasty credit, but this team was amazing. 3 Super Bowl Titles, 4 Super Bowls, 5 AFC Championship Games, and so far, 7 AFC East Titles. Team of the decade indeed !

Well, I guess either the Ravens or Steelers could tie for the number of Super Bowl wins. Neither can match Super Bowl appearances or Conference titles. So, I guess the Pats have locked up the team of the decade, but they did that last season if we take those into effect even before the Giants were eliminated.

I'm sorry, have you not been watching TV? Tony Dungy and Brett Farve combine for Team, Player, Coach, Person, and Humaitarian of the decade.

This isn't even a question.....although it sucks we haven't seen a championship for a few years, the Pats have dominated the NFL in the oughts.

Sounds about right to me....

agreed. we don't want the steelers to win regardeless because we would have to listen to their fans about how they have more super bowls than any other team.

I wish superhero sportsperson of the galaxy didn't disqualify Favre from player of the decade. It's almost unfair.

If the Colts or Steelers, especially the Colts, get to 3 Super Bowl wins, they'll be able to make a very legitimate argument.

I think the Colts and Patriots are neck and neck with wins this decade - Too close to call with one season remaining if you strictly go by wins instead of accomplishments

The team of the first-half of the decade.

The team of the first-half of the decade.

the 16-0 pretty much tied that up...

but ur right, i want one more SB to make sure EVERYONE knows

As much winning as we've done the past four years, it don't feel right without a Lombardi, especially when we had our shots all four years, well except this one. But if we would have got in this year, who knows.

The list for team of the decade (so far) is...

1. Patriots
2. Steelers
3. Colts
4. Eagles
5. Ravens maybe?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didnt they get awarded Team, Player, Coach, Person, and Humaitarian in the history of mankind?:D

I don't want to make into it. Patriots need to win a ring in 2009 or 2010 to have solid claim on dynasty.

You have got to be kidding.........Not about wins it is about Lombardi's and playoff appearances......especially Lombardi's.......Pats 3 Colts 1.............and Pats FIRST TEAM to go 16-0 regular season.....and FIRST TEAM EVER TO GO 18-0!!!! (of course NO ONE IN THE FU(KING MEDIA EVER MENTIONS THIS TREMENDOUS FEAT.....because they all cant stand the Pats)!!!...........Not even close.....Pats are the greatest team of this decade.....and ONE OF THE GREATEST....if not THE greatest ....of all time!
