Not just the helmet, it was the side to the back of the helmet. I didn't realize what a stupid joke it was until about a month ago because I wouldn't watch replays or look at pictures. That catch NEVER happens again.

It was even worse. The only reason teh ball stayed there was because Rodney got his hand on it. Tyree's hands didn't grab the ball until after Rodney had stopped it against Tyree's helmet.

Sean, this is a lousy choice for a poll. Why dwell on the negative?

I wish you hadn't told me that - like I said, all I've seen is a still picture

:(

Super Bowl, clearly, it was for a place in history.

I believe Brady said it before the game. This will be a game we remember forever, win or lose.....

I post this every once in a while to remind people why the bomb to Moss on 3rd down was a good call by McD. That is how close we were to winning.

I do remember that one. Imagine if we'd won that way.

Oh well.

because its the most depressing time of the year, when we are not in the playoffs.. its a fair question..

Agreed. All this poll has done has bring back painful memories. Please stop asking this sort of question :(

On the plus side, if the Pats in this era w Brady/BB/Kraft win another ring, imagine how sweet it will feel. Personally, I think we would've taken #4 for granted if it weren't for all the bad luck, bad officiating, bad media, bad blood, bad 4th quarter defenses that have now prevented this Patriots dynasty from winning another Super Bowl.

Goodness, why is this poll necessary? Why do we feel compelled to drag ourselves through the negatives again and again? 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 all fell short of expectations because they didn't win it all. Each season had its redeeming qualities, but each ended up short of the ultimate goal.

Super Bowl 42 was painful as hell.... we get it. They blew a huge lead in Indy in the 06 AFCC... been down that road once or twice since. Todd Sauerbrun, Champ Bailey, and Jeff Triplette, among others, help derail the Pats in Denver in the 05 Divisional round... I seem to remember that as well. WHY is it necessary to revisit this crap? These threads seem to pop up with alarming regularity around here...

Next poll forthcoming: Which Play Hurt the Most?
(1) Tyree's Miracle
(2) 3rd and 20 to Moss comes up 6 inches shy of a miracle SB winning TD
(3) Not converting 3rd and 4 in Indy
(4) Marlin Jackson's INT to end that one
(5) Reche Caldwell dropping a 4th quarter ball with no defender to be seen for 20 yards (and Tom Brady not seeing that earlier in the play, so Reche could have skated into the end zone [had he friggin held on to the ball])
(6) Champ Bailey, and everything surrounding that play
(7) Heinous PI called in the endzone in Denver to give the Broncos 7
(8) Bernard Pollard...enough said
(9) Brett Favre somehow can't see a 500 pound DL getting in the way of a screen pass, and no one can bring him down as he rumbles to the endzone
(10) Brett Favre feels compelled to rush his O to the line, fires a bullet to his slot left receiver... which of course is picked off... and replays show there were about 543 Dolphins in the area, so even if the ball WAS caught, there would be no real benefit to the Jets anyway...
(11) Jabar Gaffney, Indy, 2008...
(12) Dave Thomas, Indy, 2008...
(13) Dustin Keller, Foxboro, 2008, 3rd and 15...
(14) Drew Bledsoe hits a Pittsburgh DL square in the numbers with time running down, AND WITH THE LEAD, on a Saturday night home game in 1997, leading to a Steelers OT Win, giving them the 2 seed and the bye, and the Patriots the 3 seed, which they use to beat Miami, but subsequently lose IN Pittsburgh in the 2nd round
(15) Kicking deep to Desmond Howard, and Adam Vinatieri getting held (seriously, watch that replay, he got yanked from behind when he could have made a play... remember, he ran down Herschel Walker in Dallas earlier that year)
(16) Bledsoe throwing behind a wide-open receiver (Brisby?) in Cleveland in the 1994 playoffs on 4th and 10...
(17) Chad Pennington floats a perfect ball at 0.5 MPH over everyone in the back of the endzone in Week 16 of 2002, putting the Jets ahead to stay, and ultimately costing the Patriots a playoff birth...

Alright, I think I've made my point... I've given everyone who wants it enough angst to last them through the offseason ;)

Seriously though, I don't get what threads like this seek to acccomplish...

I try to look on the positive side with all things, and the one positive thing about the game that shall not be mentioned is it was without a doubt the lowest point I could ever get to in sports, so the good news is I've suffered through that and survived and thrived so I can survive anything sports related.

Per AF, I have withdrawn what I previously wrote. I will merely acknowledge my poll selection (duh?) and move on to more useful threads...

i have a feeling the Giants loss will hurt for as long as we all live

Nothing comes close to that choke in the Super Bowl.

you forgot asante dropping the INT in SB 42 which could've won the game

This playoff miss may keep a sick feeling in the stomach longer than others.

With the other choices, we were able to see our team play and the outcome was what it was.

This season, we never even got to see what could have been, in a year where the Cardinals are hosting the NFC Championship game...

Well said....

As BB always says "It is what it is"

This has been a freaking weird season....

As you said....where the Cardinals are hosting the NFC game....

Weird.....

I'd say omitted would be a better word, lol... my point was that reliving them is an exercise in pain, and is just nauseating more than anything. They all sucked, badly... whether one sucked more than another isn't something we need to torture ourselves with.

How about this one: When Ellis Hobbs picked off Manning early in the second quarter, he took off running immediately, and ended up being forced out of bounds. There were 2 Giants in the area, but Hobbs had a TIDAL WAVE of Patriot blockers trailing him by a yard or so. If he had stopped for literally half a second, or even just stutter stepped to let those blockers get in front of him, he's almost assuredly gone the other way. That would have made it 14-3, and really put the Patriots in the driver's seat.

There is so much sucktitude, AND so much greatness, in the past 4 years alone... why dredge up the incredibly negative stuff?

Great job with that list I would to ad Ben Dreith.
