Should the Chargers look to deal Tomlinson, beat writer Kevin Acee suggested they could look for a mid-round pick and a player in return. With an $8.9 million cap number, it's also possible that he could be released. Said Tomlinson, "I just got to make sure, whether with the Chargers or somebody else, that I'm ready to play football next year."

Queue LdT --> Pats rumors

I'm almost upset he may not be on the Chargers, they're not nearly has hateable without him.

As long as Rivers is their QB, they'll still be QUITE "hateable" :)

But I know what you're saying.

Re: OT: LdT recognized Sunday that he may not return to the Chargers in 2009

how mad would you be if the pats signed him up if he was released?

Pretty mad. I really don't think I could root for him. There are only a few active players I could say that about: LdT, Joey Porter, McLovin.

I'd like to see him join the Colts for $10 million a year for 5 years with a $20 million bonus.

That should kill the Peyton Manning era.

Hey PJ - welcome back. I'd be mad too, but then again, I thought there was no way BB would ever consider Randy Moss. I've never heard LTd's teammates compliment him like Randy's, though. I couldn't see him for the whole game, obviously, but it still seemed to me that he stood away, isolated from his teammates on Sunday, just not with the Darth Vader costume on.

Thanks. I think the guy has no heart.

Somebody photoshop the Tinman with an LDT head, or, LDT with a Tinman head.

Welcome back PJ. You were missed.

That would be pretty funny.

Thanks.

If the CHargers are smart they will cut him loose. He's a shadow of what he once was.

Re: OT: LdT recognized Sunday that he may not return to the Chargers in 2009

LDT annoyed the hell out of me with his remarks following the Pats' upset at San Diego a couple years back. Having said that...

Let's try to be objective here. On a down year for Tomlinson, he still amassed over 1,500 yards of offense and had 12 touchdowns. He averages over 50 receptions per season, and if healthy could be a valuable weapon on offense even with the mileage. Keep him in a timeshare, keep his legs fresh, and he could redeem himself come playoff time.

Of course, I'm fine with Sammy Morris leading the committee alongside Kevin Faulk, Laurence Maroney, and [possibly] LaMont Jordan. Plus LDT's contract is not affordable. Bringing in another RB is really not high on my list of concerns heading into the offseason.

they kept the wrong running back.

Re: OT: LdT recognized Sunday that he may not return to the Chargers in 2009

Teaming up LT with Brady Moss and Welker would be sweet, I dont think hes done imo.

Re: OT: LdT recognized Sunday that he may not return to the Chargers in 2009

Just got thinking about what the media reaction would have been had Randy Moss gotten injured, sat on the bench with a dark visor, and avoided speaking to anyone during the AFC Championship game while his nitwit QB played the game of his life on one knee.

I'm not a fan of Rivers, but I sure respect him after that.

LDT in Foxboro? No thank you. Gimme the Sammy/LaMont/Faulk three-headed hydra, a healthy (and, let's hope, motivated) LoMo, BJGE and/or a pass-catching rookie special teamer, and I'll be more than happy.

Re: OT: LdT recognized Sunday that he may not return to the Chargers in 2009

L'dT would never be happy as part of a rotation where he was on an 8-15 touches per game. he probably still considers himself a "feature back"

Also, it's kinda dumb. Look what happened to Shaun Alexander. You would think these guys would figure it out and extend their careers 3-4 years.

Re: OT: LdT recognized Sunday that he may not return to the Chargers in 2009

Agreed. I'll take Tuck over Ladanian "I'm a no go for the playoffs" Tomlinson any day.

Re: OT: LdT recognized Sunday that he may not return to the Chargers in 2009

I really think LdT is on the downward slope. He'll still have a few more solid 1000yd/8TD years, because he is still a good player. But he's not the jaw dropping sensation he was a couple of years ago. He'll get by on smarts and guile for a few more years, kind of like Emmitt in his last couple of Cowboy years and the time he spent with the Cardinals.

And I agree with PJ. He's just...I don't know. I would take 10 Troy Brown's or (I doubt alot of Pats fans will like this, but here goes) Wayne Chrebet over 1 LdT any day...give me the guy with some talent and a mile of heart and guts over the talented crybaby any day.

Re: OT: LdT recognized Sunday that he may not return to the Chargers in 2009

The Pats would never sign him after he insulted the organization with his public comments. Now that's over...

The Chargers should trade/cut him and continue on with Sproles, but they've sold so many LT jerseys and he has broken NFL records with the team that they will probably keep him based on sentimental value even if it means not playing in a superbowl while he's on the team because of it.

sproles is less of an every down back then LoMo is...

the chargers would first have to upgrade the rb position, to be able to give away LT....
