I'd love to have RAC back w/the Pats in some capacity. As of this moment Pees is the DC but I'd love to see Romeo get his old job back.

No rush for Crennel
What next for Romeo Crennel? Friends of the former Patriots defensive coordinator and Browns head coach said he is in no rush to line up his next opportunity, a luxury he has because he will still be paid for the remaining three years of the extension he signed prior to the 2008 season. If Crennel coaches next season, which would most likely be as a coordinator or assistant, it would have to be the perfect situation.

Dante Scarnecchia is the Patriots' Assistant Head Coach and every team can only have one. He could be a special consultant like Don Caper was this year though.

Dante Scarnecchia is the Patriots' Assistant Head Coach and every team can only have one. He could be a special consultant like Don Caper was this year though.

They can make him Special Assistant to the Head Coach or Assistant to the Head Coach if need be, the key is for Romeo to want to come here. Also, I'm pretty sure you can have more than one Assistant HC, the Jaguars had two this past year: Assistant Head Coach/Tight Ends - Mike Tice and Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator - Gregg Williams. In whatever capacity RAC would come back I'm sure he would help the D out tremendously.

In thoery that would hurt Rac's chances as that means Capers is still here...not that they both can't be but I believe the thought was if Capers went to Denver than maybe Rac would return to fill that void.

There's an article in the newsfeeds (it's from theherald so I'm NOT clicking it) saying Capers may still be uncertain. BB'll handle our OC slot, plus our offense should be a gift to any coach anyway. Jmho but the Defense could get interesting. opcorn:

PFIEL is correct; any money he gets from a job offsets the money he's owed by Cleveland. OTOH, many coach contracts require that coaches who are fired make efforts to find employment elsewhere in the NFL in order to receive the "golden parachute."

No, it isn't. Look at the defensive rosters on those teams and try telling me Dean Pees couldn't have won with that bunch.

Sometimes a great coodinator will be a terrible head coach, then he goes back to being a great coordintor again.

Case in point, **** Lebeau of the Steelers who failed miserably as the Bengals head coach and then returned to his old job, doing as good or better than before.

Well in that case than BB still has to prove himself to you I mean look at his rosters thru the years.

The reporting at the time said that he helped BB simplify the defense, making it more teachable.

That is his big identified contribution.

Plus he obviously didn't screw much up, whether in player relations or scheming.

There's NO comparison between the Patriot's franchise and that of Cleveland. Savage is NO Kraft or Pioli, and RAC's no Bill Belichick. HERE he didn't need to be any of those guys, he could just be Romeo Crennel, and Romeo Crennel fit pretty well into our system as I recall

RAC was a success HERE, and in the end that's all that really matters. Their attitude towards Moss was a prime example,also Corey Dillon and Rodney. The Pats don't care about how well you did somewhere else; they only care how you'd fit in here. RAC's more than proved himself.
