Re: Mike Nolan to join Mcdaniels

Ok, if Nolan is going to be the D.C., does that mean that the Capers stories were false or that he'll be taking a position/assistant head coach type of job for the Broncos?

Interesting developments continue....

Re: Mike Nolan to join Mcdaniels

This surprises me. I thought the globe was reporting that Capers was going to be the DC? Oh well, who cares, as long BB is still our coach :D

Re: Mike Nolan to join Mcdaniels

Capers is not a big loss nor is he a great addition on this team IMO - Who cares if he goes??

too early to predict but maybe out of respect Mcd doesnt want to raid pats coaches.Remains to be seen.

Re: Mike Nolan to join Mcdaniels

Nolan is one of those guys who likes Pats-style players. (Which is why he overpaid for TBC.)

I would say it a Nolan signing is dependent upon the winning vs rebuilding. I believe Nolan is a 4-3 guy.

The Denver defense truly sucked. However, it would take even longer to go to a 3-4 than trying to improve on a 4-3. My guess they want to win sooner vs later.

Good move by McDaniels on his first assistant hire (assuming it was him who picked). Nolan wasn't much of a head coach, but he is a very good DC. Also, kudos so far for not raiding the Patriots cubboard.

I took it to mean that JMcD wasn't in control of his own staff... didn't Nolan interview with Denver last week? Or am I thinking of somebody else.

Nolan's also coached 34 defenses, and installed a 34 hybrid while at San Fran. Also, during his time at San Fran Nolan drafted a number of defensive players who had been targeted as players of interest for the Patriots. So, the Broncos now having both McDaniels and Nolan should add to the list of teams drafting potential Patriots.

Everyone keeps saying this, yet one has to acknowledge that both Wheatley and Wilhite looked good in limited time last year. If Capers was brought in for anything, it was to teach the rooks, he gets a good grade for that. No one could fix Deltha O'Neal's issues.

seb

From what I have seen of Denver, they would be even harder to convert to the 3-4 than the Jets were a few years ago.

I wonder if the 4-3/3-4 backround makes him ideal for Denver?

I'm:confused: so we stay tuned I guess. There was a PFT article in another thread saying Josh wanted McDermott, then there's something somewhere else about Capers LOL:stars2:
