How crazy of a season has this been.

Clearly the Chargers have not played nearly as well as the Chargers of last year. The Chargers were the very fortunate benefactors of a sucky division and squeeked into the playoffs with an 8-8 record. But even after an 8-8 record, the Chargers could find themselves in a better position than last season. With a win against the Steelers, they would be hosting the AFC Championship Game.

Of course, a win against Pittsburgh is not a given.

and the 9- 7 arizona cardinals are one Eagles win away from hosting the NFC title game! How &^*%ed up is that? !

They started to play well at the right time and caught teams at the right time. This is why I think the Chargers are going to beat the Steelers. The way Ben Rothlisberger holds on to the ball, he is one hit away from being carted off the field. Every team that lost today proved how overrated they were during the season. I never believed the Titans's hype and I don't think the Steelers are that good. Also, Carolina proved how overrated they are too. Having the Cardinals in the NFC Championship proves how bad the NFL was this year.

deion sanders just said what a horrible SB that would be SD vs ARZ....was hilarious

How sweet would it be to see that ballbag commissioner handing the Lombardi to either the 8-8 Chargers or 9-7 Cardinals in Detroit in front of 10,000 fans. Who in their right mind would schlep to Detroit to see that game.

Priceless.

It's not in Detroit, it's in Tampa.

What the heck is happening in Detroit??

Yeah, I just dont understand why this is an issue with some people. Yes, our regular season record was mediocre at best. But we beat Indy and if we beat Pitt in Pitt, you dont think SD has proven the right to be playing the AFCCG?....whether its home or otherwise? That's absurd. If these other teams like Indy or Pitt are more deserving for some reason, why dont they just beat us? Isn't that the famous mantra of the Patriots?....to just stop us? If we beat the Steelers, we deserve all the royalties therein.

Good for them. I hope they beat the Steelers. I really do.

True. No matter what a team's record is, once they get into the playoffs everyone is 0-0. If the Chargers and Cardinals keep winning, then why should the teams that lost to them be more deserving of going to the super bowl than them? The Panthers losing to the Cardinals means that the Panthers are the ones that don't belong in the playoffs, not the other way around. Same with the Chargers beating Indy; the Colts were overrated.

I would love to root for the Chargers, especially since the Ravens and the Steelers are the remaining alternatives. But since the Chargers making the SB would drop the 2nd round draft pick they owe us by about 15 spots, I just can't.

Well if it's any consolation a Chargers SB appearance would move our draft pick up one slot.

If they're facing the Cardinals or Eagles then our spot goes up 2.

Yeah, I just dont understand why this is an issue with some people.
Because angry Pats fans who think playoff appearances for their team is a birthright are hoping the commish will be shamed into changing the rules because a "8-8 team" is doing well.
You are correct, if the Chargers were so lousy someone should be able to beat them.
I think a Bolts vs Cards SB might be a nice display of offense.

Yes it is a birthright.

8-8 < 11-5. We played in the East you played in the sorry West. LT is a joke and guess what? If you won the SB against Arz, you know who would care? Noone except your fanbase.

I really hope you guys realize LT is the biggest wuss to ever play in the NFL, right?

Because you went 8-8.

Very close to a birthright for people that can do math. 11 wins > 8 wins.

The reason why this thread is relevant is because these occurrences don't seem to be anomalies anymore. Not after the 10-6 Giants defeated the 16-0 Patriots. If you do get a 8 win team against a 9 win team in the Super Bowl, then effectively a lot of emphasis will be taken off the regular season in some divisions. Look what Arizona did at the end of the season.

The final quarter f the NFL season will have more trash games than ever before.

I agree man. If SD is hosting the AFCC I say good for yall. Pats fans need to remember the tuck game and people saying the Patriots didn't deserve to move on past Oakland, well we proved our worth the next couple games didn't we. Or the time when everyone gave the Patriots crap about spygate, calling BB a sham and we were 1 dropped pick away from a perfect season. These situations allow teams to prove their worth on the field and not in the media.

"It's not in Detroit, it's in Tampa."

Sorry, my bad, just goes to show how much I don't give a rats azz about the Super Bowl this year.

I should have known since the two Raven cheerleaders announcing the game yesterday said about 9,000 times "the last time the #1 seed Titans played the Ravens, the Ravens won 24-10 on their way to the Super Bowl in Tampa and we all know where the game is being played THIS year"..........

Dierdork probably doesn't even know he is doing it, but practically every game he announces, he clearly favors one team over the other..............
