Walter Football 3 round Mock that would be great

You can pretty much make up any "quote" you like. For example I played Triangle for Boston just before they got big.

It's from the originally quoted mock draft, not FreeTedWilliams talking.

Haha that's funny. And it was actually kazoo not triangle.. geez the mis-information.

Now I'm worried 'bout your mental health if you're checking in on Mangini's panty preference!

Hard to fully accept the comments on our RB's. Our committee of Fossils and Mediocrates had the regular seasons #6 ranked run game.

I have serious doubts we'll draft a RB this year unless someone irresistable falls right into our laps.

Offense can safely age and still score points. Defense simply has to be smart and fast and just the right mix of vets and young'uns.

How great is it that a guy like Mayo is probably the next Tedy Bruschi on AND off the field? Nice to have a "Patriot's Way Vet" who's that young.

Agreed. writers are to in love with the "home run" threat. first downs are fine. Someone might tell the writer that the forward pass is now allowed.

Otherwise, love that draft need wise.

24. New England Patriots: Clint Sintim, DE/OLB, Virginia
Bill Belichick added a young inside linebacker to his roster last April. He may look to upgrade the exterior this time around.
The Pats may prefer Sintim inside with Mayo. He's very versatile (sound familiar)?

47. New England Patriots: Victor Harris, CB, Virginia Tech
The Patriots need help at corner, and Victor Harris is a steal if they can get him down here.
I prefer other CBs.

59. New England Patriots: C.J. Spiller, RB, Clemson
The Patriots need running back help; Laurence Maroney is always hurt, Kevin Faulk is nothing more than a fossil right now, while LaMont Jordan and Sammy Morris are pretty mediocre. C.J. Spiller, whose stock could explode at the Combine, could be a home-run threat at running back that New England really needs.
First off, the Pats don't need a home-run threat. Secondly, If I'm going to invest in an offensive skill position this early, I'd go WR -- not RB. After Moss and Welker, how secure and talented are we? Lastly, Faulk is still one of the team MVPs, and Maroney, Morris, and Jordan are solid RBs.

90. New England Patriots: Nic Harris, SS, Oklahoma
Nic Harris seems like the strong safety-linebacker tweener the Patriots love to have on their roster. With retirement knocking down Rodney Harrison's door, the Patriots would love to add someone like Harris to their roster.
Prefer other Safeties over Harris.

I would wet myslef if the Pats came out of the first 3 rounds with these picks..

The Patriots struggled to put pressure on the quarterback at times (31 sacks) and Mike Vrabel, though still dependable, will be 34 in August. Something has to be done about this.

(That is "Macho" Harris)

Did you see this kid last night, he has got more than a little "Rodney" in him.

1.) Could be Ok,a lot will depend on what Al tells BB in private
2.) No quck twitch - not a BB type CB.
3.) Explosive - super fast and could take over for Hobbs on kick off returns.
4.) Is he fast enough for the NFL? He'll need a great combine/pro day run. Merriweather grew a lot at SS, we need a FS.

Meriweather is NOT a strong safety. He had to play it this year because nobody else was as good. That's not the same as saying he is a natural fit for SS. He lacks the size and tackling to be a true in the box SS.

Brandon Meriweather

5-11 and 200 lbs soaking wet. No let's just not try to fool ourselves here.

No fooling allowed, watch the tapes, Merriweather's play speaks volumes.

I'd be more comfortable having a larger safety playing next to Meriweather. At his size, I don't think he can take the pounding in the box long term. I'd rather not see him end up injured as often as Bob Sanders. BB's 3-4 defense emphasizes size over speed, particularly in our linebackers, how would safety be any different?

Rodney Harrison measures in at 6-1 220 and has been extremely successful in the BB system when healthy. That tells me a bigger safety in the SS slot has a higher chance of success in this D. Harrison won't beat Meriweather in a footrace but he made receivers hear footsteps and dealt out ferocious hits. That's what I want in my SS. You're welcome to recommend drafting 190-200 lbs safeties for that job, but based on past history, I don't buy it.

Rodney Harrison

Ochmed, I agree that Meriweather really stepped up when he was needed at SS this year. So he can play SS, but should he? Or to put it another way, if you had two comparable starting-caliber talents to choose from to add to this team, one a prototype FS and one a prototype SS, which would you pick?

I don't think it is as easy as a player has to be X size to play x position. Look at Bob Sanders in Indy for example.

I think Merriweather is an NFL calibre SS and I think he excels when placed closer to the LOS.

When faced with two players competing for the same spot, I would ALWAYS pick the player that gives the team the best chance to win.

The way I see it is if the Pats added a Will Moore type player, then he just adds the the versatility of the defense because the Pats could bring up either him or Meriweather into the box and have no fall off in play..

I agree. I think Brandon is developing very nicely as a Rodney Jr. - style play maker. I don't see him as an Ed Reed-type. I'd love it if he had more meat on his bones to absorb hits and improve the energy transfer portion of his tackles, but he is what he is and I think he's found his niche in NE's defense. Grab a Courtney Greene or Chip Vaughn to play centerfield and "impress" the WRs.
