Cute picks - Hate em!

Well these picks didn't really pan out (though the jury is still out on Laurence Maroney), but I tend to trust our management when it comes to the draft. Normally they do a fine job finding the right players, you just can't really hope for every pick to be great. At the end of the day most players that come through the draft are average, but that's only normal: if we didn't have average players we wouldn't have great players.

The important thing is that the Patriots have proven capable of building great teams year after year even if some decisions like Chad Jackson and Duane Starks don't pan out.

Re: Cute chicks - Hate em!

Hillary Duff, Hannah Montana, Ashleigh Simpson, the entire casts of all the High School Musicals, and every other person who can't legally drink yet the media won't stop trying to make me care about them.

can anyone tell me what watson's stats in college were?

No. Do you. I am talking reality here.

Why would you say Watson was not a workout warrior? He ran a 4.57, benched 34 reps, and scored 41 on the Wonderlic. He was the definition of a workout warrior.

Here's a quote from his pro day:
The 6-foot-5, 255-pounder ran a 40-yard dash that was timed at sub-4.4 by several scouts. The highest time on the stopwatches was 4.44, Georgia strength coach Dave Van Halanger said, and Watson’s time was faster than any of Georgia’s wide receivers or defensive backs.

“He’s a freak,” said a scout from the Baltimore Ravens.

*LOL* So, because he has a good pro day, he's a workout warrior? That is idiocy. Watson was a very good TE for Georgia. His coach even said they wished they could use Watson more, but the offense wasn't there for it...

A workout warrior is someone who never shows up on the field. And Watson was showing up on the field with Georgia. Also, Watson was a 1st round talent BEFORE the combine and his Pro-day. Not like Mike Mamula who was a late 2nd early 3rd and rode his Combine and Pro-day into the 1st round.

Georgia my friend, Ben was not a yellow jacket.

I won't belabor this point any more. I am not saying Watson didn't have production in college, but to think workouts weren't a big part of his being drafted in the first round is foolish IMO.

Lets forget that Watson was a monster in college and that he wasn't a combine warrior.

Really?

The most catches he had in one year was 31. He really beasted in college!

Let me know when you have looked at the offense they ran. Thanks.

Maybe you should have been around then and seen that even PRIOR to the season, Watson was getting talk for his play and not his weight room abilities. But, that's probably asking too much of you.

So in the offense they ran, they didn't feature the TE? Yet you say he had a monster year? Explain that logic to me.

while I think he should have done better, I would not call ben watson a bad draft pick.....marquise hill was a much worse pick even ignoring the tragic

The Hill pick was head scratcher....

The Hill pick was head scratcher....

The Hill pick wasn't a head scratcher at all. When it was made, Seymour was in the last year of his contract. So was Jarvis Green. They'd just let Bobby Hamilton go. And Hill had Saban and Kirk Ferentz potentially commenting on him. He was raw, but the Pats felt they had time to bring him along. Especially since he was so young.

Hill tore it up versus Oklahoma had three sacks I believe. God rest his soul. He could of potentially been the Elephant as an OLB with his wingspan.
