Michael Lombardi: Chiefs also looking at Casserly and Kokinis

His wife has family in KC i believe, though the longer it goes on the more likely he will stay.

Charley Casserly is a good GM . He got firing after picking Mario williams over vinceyoung and bush and demarco ryans in the second round. His picks have panned out better .

What if Pioli is completely happy here in NE and every year he entertains these job offers just to stall other teams from getting their front office setup? It's so ******ed, but part of me wants it to be true because it sounds like one of those things Belichick would do.

Take every advantage available to you.

He was a lame duck. He was gone before that. The Texans kept him until the draft to take the heat off the new staff. A horrible GM. Texans got off to a terrible start as a franchise due to Casserly. I'd love to see the Jets sign him. It'd be like having Herm back in the division.

Casserly, Tannenbaum and Favre. It just couldn't get any better for a Pats fan!

Seems like Scott is going to stay - IMO, if he was going he would already be gone.

Posted this yesterday in the other Pioli thread, http://www.patsfans.com/new-england...ors-mount-pioli-chiefs-page2.html#post1243107 , I have to agree that it seems more and more as though SP will be staying here. It seems as though he is going to have the same exact position in KC, just w/a different title so why make the change for what in essence a lateral move or a move with slightly more power in firing and hiring HC & staff.

Casserly did a good job during his tenure with the Pats until Bobby Grier took full control.

Casserly has never worked for the Pats, he worked w/the Redskins and Texans. He did start his coaching career in MA, maybe that's why you're confused.

I'd put this scenario at 0.001% probability. What is far more realistic is that he is letting Kraft know he will seriously entertain other offers. My guess is he'll see a nice healthy bump in pay after this little round of flirting.

BPF - Agreed - The other side of this is that Dimitioff left, do you think that if there was a chance Scott would leave in the next year or so that Thomas would go to another team when he could have slid into Scott's role with the Patriots?

I don't, but perhaps I'm being too much of a Homer and think that no one would EVER want to leave my favorite team! :D

Well who the hell am I thinking of? I swore some guy who was not GM on the Pats but considered a good front office guy left for the Texans. Maybe it was our cap guy.

You might be thinking of Bobby Grier.

That's probably where my confusion comes in but I never would apply the word 'good' to Grier anytime after the 1997 draft.

As tombonneau mentioned you are thinking of Bobby Grier, who became and still is associate director of pro scouting for the Texans.
