Nic Harris seems like the strong safety-linebacker tweener the Patriots love to have on their roster. With retirement knocking down Rodney Harrison's door, the Patriots would love to add someone like Harris to their roster.

Hard to fully accept the comments on our RB's. Our committee of Fossils and Mediocrates had the regular seasons #6 ranked run game.

I have serious doubts we'll draft a RB this year unless someone irresistable falls right into our laps.

Offense can safely age and still score points. Defense simply has to be smart and fast and just the right mix of vets and young'uns.

How great is it that a guy like Mayo is probably the next Tedy Bruschi on AND off the field? Nice to have a "Patriot's Way Vet" who's that young.

I would be very happy with those four players, although I'd prefer to get Spiller with a lower pick. However, some team will probably overdraft him. He probably is the fastest kid in the draft. I like Sintim, Harris, and Harris very much, although VT kids scare me, as they have a very high turd factor. I think a kid might have to be found guilty in federal court of multiple murders of babies and puppies for Beemer not to recruit him.

I wanted the Pats to pick Steve Slaton last year out of West Virginia as the heir apparent to Kevin Faulk, he ended up going between the Crable and O'Connel picks in the 3rd round. I think that Spiller can be the same kind of impact screen/draw/kick return player as Faulk, just with much more speed (and hopefully Faulk's uncanny ability to make first downs).

Our RBs were great WHEN HEALTHY. And that's the rub. Morris, Jordan, and LM spent lots of time hurt in 2008. It was not till near the end of the season that Morris and Jordan were BOTH healthy at the same time and able to play. The Pats getting insurance at RB is a reasonable use of a draft choice imo. Would I prioritize RB? No. But would I draft insurance if the value was right? Yes.

That's his upside, but man is he frail. I doubt he weighs 180, and he'll probably do less than 5 reps at the combine. He might be best served moving to flanker.

I think the guy to replace Faulk this year in this years' draft is Ringer, if we want to get one in the first three rounds. But I would love to spend a late-rounder on our fellow alum Brinkley, assuming his knee checks out. What that kid accomplished in a no-talent offense is remarkable.

Herring from ASU is another possibility, and Woods from Texas Tech.

I agree........I believe a day 1 pick will be used on OL.......must get quality for that group as there is the potential for many departure after next season......my first choice would be an OG as mankins may not be here and neal is breaking down

Pretty good draft. I really like they picked one of my binkies Nic Harris. He played pretty well last night despite the loss. If we could get him in the third with the comp pick I'd like it.

I'm suprised that they have Harris lasting to the 3rd round.

It seems that with some, if you don't have one back who is a 1000 yard rusher, your RB's suck. When will they ever learn?

Not my kind of draft. Slintim is probably solid, but I'd much prefer Connor Barwin, my binky and a perfect pats-type player with much more upside who can probably be gotten in the second round. I don't think Harris fits our style of play at all, and there are half a dozen CBs I would take over him in the second round. I don't think RB is a major need for 2009, and would rather focus on rebuilding the defense. I don't want Nic Harris at all - I think he's at best a pure in-the-box safety and at worst a safety-linebacker tweener.

These next three months will be amusing and fun. Now our #6 rated running game and the best patriot running game more than 20 years is just a much of old fossils and hasbeens. Not bad for a passing team who uses a lineman when we needed a fullback!

Let's review. We have Maroney, Faulk and Morris. Barring injuries, the 4th back will be inactive in most games. With one injury, the injured back will be inactive. Our incumbant is BJGE. I would like to re-sign Jordan or another free agent equivalent as an upgrade to BJGE, but I am fine with him as our #4. I do not want us to use a draft pick in the first three rounds on a running back!! What a waste, given our needs at ILB, OG, OT, CB, SS, FS, WR and TE. And that doesn't could OLB which for some posters is their #1 priority. It also deoen't include DE which is a huge need if we don't re-sign/extend two of Wilfork, Seymour, and Green.

The tide in the NFL has shifted and the system of using a single star running back is mostly out of fashion right now. Teams like have a committee of running backs and we have a decent committee, so drafting a runner on Day 1 would be surprising.

Having said that, the Clemson RB is very explosive and could be worth a shot if he slips to Day 2. On Day 1, IMO, its going to be all linemen and maybe a linebacker.

1) Simtin - Pats haven't drafted anyone who played for Al Groh so far. If Simtin can bring the pressure the Pats need from the OLB position, great.. Not sure that he can though..

2) Victor Harris - More of a FS than a CB. Not sure that this fits the Pats needs..

3) Spiller - Hmm.. ok.. rather focus on a C/G here

4) Nic Harris - Not a big fan of his. I don't think he's got the coverage abilities that the Pats would like. Harrison was vastly under-rated in his.

If this is how it came out, then I'd be surprised. But, I'd also work to try and understand BB/Pioli's thinking

Just been looking at this mock on their site strangely enoough. Whilst Spiller would represent huge value, I'd be massively disappointed with a running back in the second round considering what we have on the roster and what will most likely still be left on the board at that point.

I like the first and the last, but I'm not sold on Macho fitting the Pats skill set. He's too tall for a start
