Loyalty - Why Pioli is Great

I've been thinking about this, and wonder if you all agree. Scott Pioli, even if he ends up going to K.C., seems to be very loyal to New England. He stayed here and built the team, even when earlier opportunities were floated his way.

Now, he is struggling with assumably a great offer from the Chiefs vs. staying here with the Patriots. And, on top of it all, he didn't sell out regarding Mangini. He gets how low Mangini got in the gutter to screw his former team, and will not work with him. Does anybody else LOVE that?

You can bet that Pioli is keeping BB very much in the loop on his dealings with K.C., and I bet B.B. and he remain close. In the end, ofcourse, I hope he stays here, but I have even greater respect for him now, and was wondering if the rest of you do as well?

Yeah, I second that from a homer perspective. Hey, if BB really acted like a jerk toward Mangina, and that's all Mangina saw, la la la we don't know the whole story blah blah blah, what can I say, Mangina's motives are what they are, and we don't know 'em....

But yeah, Pioli has been able to succeed fantastically in NE, and hopefully he remains in NE. If not, he isn't the first-chance sellout Mangina was... and you have to appreciate that.

Of course, we're burned in Patriots Nation... most guys are still able to say "he got a head coaching (or GM) gig? Well good for him!" NE fans just remember the last guy that moved on turned into a monumental ass, and the NORMAL relationship -- not burning bridges -- seems like something to be happy about.

PS, I'd love to think there is a spot in our organization for Crennel, but it does not look like that's the case.

We could be wrong of course but Pioli doesn't strike me as the journeyman type; 3 years here,2 years there. JMHO but I don't attribute the same mindset to Pioli or BB that seems to pervade this league lately.

EDIT: I see Kraft in the same way-not a hire/fire, hire/fire kind of owner.

That's a great point! Moreover, in a rock solid organization with great ownership, you're more likely to succeed. That makes a person's future much more secure.

Agreed. for years ive been grateful for every year Pioli has stayed and given us "one more draft". He has also balanced the whole Belichick/being Parcells son-in-law drama with class, as well as the Mangini drama. I believe hes a dude of high character and I wish him well. Also, if he leaves, I hope its to KC where I can watch him up build up this franchise here.

what's more, I'd say there are few owners who invest as much into their organizations as much as kraft has that also pretty much leave the whole football thing up to the guys he's hired......you've got your snyders and joneses out there, but relatively speaking, they are pains in the butt to work for......then you have the ralph wilsons of the world stuck in a small market who are always limited in what they can do with guaranteed $$$$

KC is an interesting scenario since its been a relatively stable organization........so it comes back to 'is his power ultimate?'......anything short of that or a truckload of $$$ or part ownership probably falls short in regards to truly tangible parts of the situation.....

......but then there's ego

Roger that. It will be refreshing if he does leave, to have somebody leave that we actually root for, much like Romeo! Nothing wrong with being classy.

The idea that teams are limited in what they can give out in cash is outdated, and frankly ridiculous. Revenue sharing pays almost the entire salary floor, which is in the $100M range. The bills had 200M in revenue last year, and spent $139 million on player expenses (salary, benefits, etc). They've got just as much money as the Chargers, and they never seem to have any cash problems.

[Nick] Caserio is a native of Lyndhurst, Ohio . He was a teammate of Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels at John Carroll. He earned his degree in finance from John Carroll and later earned his Master of Business Administration from Saginaw Valley State. Caserio was a three-time Academic All-Conference selection at John Carroll.

I bet he had fun talking to former Pats WR coach Brian Daboll (currently JEST QB coach), who left before the Pats got Welker and Moss, during the 2007 season. :singing:

This is going to sound ****y, but there isn't a greater organization to be a part of than the Patriots, and I think Pioli is aware of this. If you want to get a GM-type job anywhere, it'd be in New England, where there's stability and a history of success with the owner and head coach.

If Pioli takes the gig in KC, good for him, but like many others I hope he decides to stick around.
