Re: Lock in your predictions: One FA grab and one Significant cut/trade away.

In: Daunte Culpepper and Brad Johnson

Out: Brady and Cassel

You're reaching on the whole Brad Johnson thing. Maybe Chris Simms instead?

Well, naturally my first hope is Sage, but I think his greatness last season would make him too expensive.

Re: Lock in your predictions: One FA grab and one Significant cut/trade away.

the people who think seymour should be gone really don't understand the scheme........but that's ok......there's alot of that around

major cut: jarvis green
major acquisition: terrell suggs or bart scott

I agree with these. Green has a $5 million cap hit which I think is the sixth highest on the team. Not exactly what you want for a cap hit for a back up DE who had a down year. I say if the Pats resign Mike Wright, Green may be gone.

Re: Lock in your predictions: One FA grab and one Significant cut/trade away.

I thought we could have a bit of fun and see who has ESP (no "n", thanks).

One of each, an aquisition and a cut/trade. Try to be realistic, but don't be a wuss! The trade and acquisition(s) don't need to have any relationship to each other.

Mine:
Traded away - Richard Seymour
Aquired - LB Channing Crowder (MIA), CB Jabari Greer (BUF)

In the interest of having fun, I will assume this is tongue in cheek. The only other alternative is that you would be a total crackpot and as I know you are a fervent Pats fan, I can't believe that.

Colour me both. ;)

I'm considering adding Chad Johnson to my list of cheap receivers...

Re: Lock in your predictions: One FA grab and one Significant cut/trade away.

Cut: Bruschi, Harrison
Trade: Cassel
Signing: some mid-high lvl DL/LB, and one mid lvl cb

Yes, he's very mobile. I especially like his ability to "fly" for that extra yard. You just have to live with those fumbles. Effort is what it's all about.

They'd have to sign Rodney before they could cut him, he's a FA this year.

Yes, but he forgot the warning to tuck the football before takeoff. . . .

Re: Lock in your predictions: One FA grab and one Significant cut/trade away.

Bruschi will be cut. Rodney will not be re-signed. Both can elect to play surfer boy roles and await a call midseason to return to replace an injured player.

Cassell will be traded for a 1st rounder and a 3rd rounder.

No major FA pickups this year. The team will sign some FAs under the radar on the cheap, and will focus heavily on the draft.

Re: Lock in your predictions: One FA grab and one Significant cut/trade away.

OK, Ill play.

Traded - Cassel, for a high 2nd and a second next year.

Signed - Sean Jones and Chris Canty

Extensions - Wilfork and Mankins

Gone after next season - Seymour

Most likely this will happen

Re: Lock in your predictions: One FA grab and one Significant cut/trade away.

FA pick-up - Jabari Greer or Courtland Finnegan at CB

Guys not returning - Harrison & Sanders at S, LaMont Jordan RB, Larry Izzo LB, Gaffney WR
Trade - has to be Cassel

Re: Lock in your predictions: One FA grab and one Significant cut/trade away.

Cassel is franchised and traded to a team that has a late first round pick or early second round pick.

Pats trade that pick for either Terrell Suggs or Nnamdi Asomugha.

Pats sign Bart Scott

Pats sign Jabari Greer

Pats sign Sean Jones or Jermaine Phillips.

Pats trade for Chad Johnson

Pats let go Bruschi and he retires

Pats let go Harrison and he retires.

Just a thought here.. I started out like many of you thinking we might target someone like Duante Robinson.. A solid player on a VERY AVERAGE team.. But I think he is going to get big money from someone (like Cleveland)..

This smells an awful lot like Nate Clemens.. He's a solid player but got paid WAY to much money.. Someone will look at Robinson and see young player with solid stats. Being the #10 pick in the draft someone will put it in there head they can make him a Champ Bailey..

Re: Lock in your predictions: One FA grab and one Significant cut/trade away.

Chris Canty

Dear God, no. I mean, I know he's a good player and all, but the name... the name...

I'm thinking the same thing. I didn't think Chris Gamble would expect lots of money but Carolina threw the kitchen sink at him to stay. We all know that someone in FA will get a contract that they shouldn't. The 49ers really overpaid for Clements, Jacksonville overpaid for Brian Williams and Oakland overpaid for Tommy Kelly and the one legged Javon Walker who got 50 million dollars. Although he could have recieved more money on the market, some could argue that New England overpaid for Adalius Thomas. With that in mind, I wouldn't be surprised to see some dumbass team overpay for Dunta Robinson.

Anyone who argues that doesn't understand our defense vs Baltimore's. Thomas will never have the same stats with us as he did with the Ravens. The Ravens are as close to an exclusive one gap 3-4 defense as there is in the league, while we are as close to an exclusive two gap 3-4 there is in the league.

trade Cassel for a 1st (somewhere between pick 18-23)

Draft the best LB available with the traded pick either outside/inside

Draft a SS with our pick.

FA - I quit trying to guess our FA pickups. Hopefully a vet LB (anyone but Bart Scott). Dansby or Suggs would be awesome, but pricey and both could possibly be tagged.

I nominate you, on that basis, a shoo-in for the New York Jets GM. You have demonstrated all the ability and judicious wisdom that they usually secure.;)

Re: Lock in your predictions: One FA grab and one Significant cut/trade away.

Cassel for DeMarcus Ware
and pickup those 3 FA CBs Fencer mentioned.
Colvin not signed

Possible. :D:cool:
