I thought we could have a bit of fun and see who has ESP (no "n", thanks).

One of each, an aquisition and a cut/trade. Try to be realistic, but don't be a wuss! The trade and acquisition(s) don't need to have any relationship to each other.

Mine:
Traded away - Richard Seymour
Aquired - LB Channing Crowder (MIA), CB Jabari Greer (BUF)

I have to disagree with the cut/trade Seymour crowd tremendously. As last season showed, the drop off between Seymour and Green on running downs is ginormous. Football Outsiders had the metrics, the rushing #s in Green's directions were terrible compared to Seymour's and it made the whole line weaker. Big Sey was dominant this year against the run and the pass, and it would be great if we could get his cap # down, but if we don't, I'd say he's worth the 9 milli hit. There is no replacement in sight for him, draft, free agency or on the team.

And not to shoot down everything you said, but I say no thanks to Crowder as well. I was not impressed with his play anytime I focused on him this season, and he acts like a punk. Greer sounds fine to me, but there's a certain CB in Oakland I'd wait a year and save my money for. Or even try and ship some picks for.

Traded away - Cassel
Acquired via trade (involving Cassel) - Asamougha

I wish haha

Re: Lock in your predictions: One FA grab and one Significant cut/trade away.

Not re-signed: Gaffney

Added: Tony Gonzalez and 3+ apparently-washed-up CBs

I really don't see Asomugha making his way here. Bill won't spend the coin to make it happen. The Cowboys might.

My take on Seymour is a bit different than others. I don't think he;s in decline at all. I think we could draft a fresh body and get some good value for him now. The uncapped year could be a pitfall and he if won't sign a reasonable extension, I'd send him along and get some more picks or a solid DB.

Also a drop-off from the player with all the reps to a player with limited reps is automatic, imho.

Re: Lock in your predictions: One FA grab and one Significant cut/trade away.

Cassel for DeMarcus Ware
and pickup those 3 FA CBs Fencer mentioned.
Colvin not signed

Re: Lock in your predictions: One FA grab and one Significant cut/trade away.

Trades are not all that common place in the NFL..

Disagree with Seymour.. probably not going nowhere, unless agent acts like a butthole

A FA grab will be a TE and D help, seems as though there are a lot of TE's out there whether it be a proven one Gonsalves or one under the radar.

Cassel will move on for 2 #2's in future drafts..

There will be a very surprising signing for this team a la Adalus Thomas or a comparable D player..

Re: Lock in your predictions: One FA grab and one Significant cut/trade away.

Seymour has 8 sacks the most in the Team and matching his best year so i am shocked that people wanted him gone. When AD was in their they the Left side DL/OLB generated alot of pressure and gave you 15 sacks[Ad and Vrabel when was lined up on the side.I am not adding the safety sacks coming through the right side .if you do it like 17 sacks and 1 forced fumble] with the OLB dropping into coverage alot too. so i am confused why you want to change this. remember after AD went down when vrabel moved their suddenly he was getting sacks and qb hit / one ff.

The problem was the left side of the line as Ty and Vrabel/Woods pair did not produce a bunch .Ty was injured a bit if that was the case you could say we need to get better play from the left side of the DL/OLB pair.

Seymour is in his last year of the contract so the redoing is an extension. the colts gave a 2nd for bogger so if he is in the block they will gladly throw 2 2nd rounder and put freeney seymour first round draft pick and mathis on the line. that will be one dominating line and making their CB/Safety play even better as sanders need not goof around at the line due to bad tackles.

FA Grab - CB
Trade - Cassell.

I predict two forum members with posts over 5000 will tell the rest of us we are wrong on everything.. hehehehe..

I predict an vet OL will be brought in.. And a short time later he'll return.. (it happened a few times a few years ago)

Pats will make a play for Sean Jones or Dawkins.. A Veteran safety how can tackle and replace Harrison..

Re: Lock in your predictions: One FA grab and one Significant cut/trade away.

the people who think seymour should be gone really don't understand the scheme........but that's ok......there's alot of that around

major cut: jarvis green
major acquisition: terrell suggs or bart scott

there are those who believe the number of posts equates to football knowledge........

Re: Lock in your predictions: One FA grab and one Significant cut/trade away.

FA addition: Bart Scott
Trade: Cassel for a 1st & 3rd
FA loss: Seymour next season

Re: Lock in your predictions: One FA grab and one Significant cut/trade away.

Brady gone.

Shane Lechler added.

Re: Lock in your predictions: One FA grab and one Significant cut/trade away.

In: Daunte Culpepper and Brad Johnson

Out: Brady and Cassel

Re: Lock in your predictions: One FA grab and one Significant cut/trade away.

Cassell franchised and traded to Detroit for 2009 #33 and a conditional 2010 pick.

UFA OT Jordan Gross signed (6 years, 45M$)

Other possible FA signings depending on the cap situation:

- midrange UFA CB (Jabari Greer, Bryant McFarland, or Dunta Robinson)
- Owen Daniels, UFA TE Houston

Re: Lock in your predictions: One FA grab and one Significant cut/trade away.

Disclaimer: I'm awful at predictions (see Alamo's season picks records LOL:D) but here goes anyway:

We pick up a biggie defensive signing.

Re: Lock in your predictions: One FA grab and one Significant cut/trade away.

Maroney will be traded.

Re: Lock in your predictions: One FA grab and one Significant cut/trade away.

Maroney will be traded.

YOu do realize that the cap hit for trading maroney is higher than the cap hit for keeping him, right? You do realize that hes coming off a year on IR, and has missed 16 games in the last 2 years?

Hes not tradeable.

Re: Lock in your predictions: One FA grab and one Significant cut/trade away.

In: Dunta Robinson
Out: Jarvis Green
