Can the thread police calm down now that it is the offseason?

I'm not the hugest fan of the OCD Forum Police Edict that swept across the board this season; but at least during the season I get it: there is plenty Pats to talk about and non- (and even tangential) Pats news might get in the way.

But we are officially in the offseason now. There are more interesting things to talk about than the Pats.

In fact, the most interesting posts on the front page are all non-Pats related and of course have been moved.

If the spirit of the board is to have Pats fans get together and talk football, I kindly beseech the Powers That Be to be more lenient in moving threads at this point in time. It's only going to make the board less interesting.

But if being pedantic control freaks is more important, I totally get that too. Thank you for your consideration, and I look forward to this post being moved to the "proper" forum. :)

Second the motion.

No. This is the Patriots forum, there are plenty of other forums for OT subject matter of your choosing. To suggest "there are more interesting things to talk about than the Pats" in a forum specifically designated FOR Patriots talk seems nonsensical to me.

I don't care either way, but it has taken a while to remember to hit the NFL and Draft forms.

I third the motion.

The Patriots play in the sport of FOOTBALL

The FOOTBALL playoffs are upon us

Just because the Pats are out should not make this forum non playoff talk - We are football fans and should talk football on any forum related to the sport IMO

We have the NFL forum and Visitors Locker Room forum for that. I think it's important to keep Patriots talk segregated. All you have to do is click on another forum name and you're there.

The OTs and/or draft topics during the offseason aren't a big deal imo, especially if it's something that would interest Pats fans for one reason or another:confused2:

The "Trade Brady" mega-thread seems successful; now we need one big Brady's Knee Thread and one big Pioli's/Josh's New Digs Thread lol.

Couldn't agree more! Wouldn't the OPs suggestion that the forum change in the offseason make him the "control freak"?

Mods, please move this to the correct forum.

No one visits those forums. I'd hazard 95% of posters have the Patriots Fan Forum bookmarked and visit this forum almost exclusively (unless they mistakenly visit another forum by reading a moved thread still on the front page ...)

Looking at the front page today, the following threads have been moved:

Moved: Marvin Harrison is goin down!

Moved: Whitlock:LaDainian Tomlinson will never start another game in a San Diego uniform

Moved: Banks and King debate overtime

Moved: Vincent Jackson arrested for DUI

Moved: Now that the Colts got screwed by the overtime rule will they change it?

Moved: Mike Smith Coach of the Year (BB gets one vote) [this one even sort of about the Patriots! But "sort of" doesn't cut if for the Forum Police. :(]

All of these topics are interesting and topical. Some even relate to the Pats. Moving them suppresses discussion and IMO makes the board worse.

It's really easy to go to the appropriate board. Best not to have the board get into bad habits IMO or next season could get ugly with re-training necessary.

No one visits those forums.
The NFL Football Forum has been very active recently. And it's self fulfilling, the more it's used the more people visit it. And so on.

That's awesome in an ideal alternate reality. But I exist in the real world which looks like this:

Patriots Fan Forum (548 viewing)
Patriots Draft Talk (40 viewing)
Visiting Locker Room (7 viewing)
NFL Football Forum (49 viewing)

And the people viewing those other forums are probably there unknowingly because they are viewing moved threads in this forum.

Bottom line is the only way to have a discussion generate traction is to have it in the main forum.

There were 300 or so in the NFL Forum lots of Sunday. Bottom line, many of us don't want the main forum to be bogged down by threads about other teams. As there's a forum for that it seems unnecessary to bog down this board. Post more on the other board and help generate interest.

Yes, it's critical now that we are able to bask in such glorious threads as

http://www.patsfans.com/new-england-patriots/messageboard/10/204702-pats-should-have-re-signed-booby-myers.html

Cluttering that up with something as silly as say, something actually happening, would be just crazy, especially with a front off that just can't shut up like the Patriots. I mean, a press conference that was held today about Marvin Harrison not having to face a gun charge NEEDS to be relegated elsewhere, or we might miss a thread telling us what kind of toothpaste the practice squad players will be using when they go on vacation with their kids in 5-6 weeks.

There were 300 in the NFL forum because the game threads from the weekend were needlessly moved there.

I for one think that Pats talk should be segregated from other teams' talk unless the other team in the picture has a free agent whom might end up with the Pats. That I don't have a problem with. But playoff discussion and the like should stay in the NFL forum and smack should go in the VLR. The only problem I have with the thread police is their inexplicable ability to shoot their load over a bumped thread. It just doesn't make much sense to me. A bumped thread is just as good, if not better, than a new thread.

can we move this thread to where it belongs? -- the pub. it is not about Patriots football.

:disagreement::banned:

Well, if more folks like yourself used the forums as they're intended, those numbers might change. Suffice to say that most folks come to the Pats forum for Pats news. All you have to do is click on a link to find other subject matter. It's not that hard.

I go the Draft Forum, that's the only other one that generates even a semblance of traffic, but even then, an interesting & active topic will only get 10 posts a day.
