Seriously...what is it with all these knee-jerk threads? Why is it that just b/c this team loses ONE guy, it all of a sudden means the FO is bone-stupid, it costed the team a playoff run, etc, etc?
I mean in this age of FA/salary cap/parody, name ONE team that *perfectly* keeps their nucleus intact? How did Ravens fans feel last year when they lost Adalius Thomas? How did the Chargers feel last year when they parted ways with Donnie Edwards(and, of course, Michael Turner this year)? How do Colts fans feel every year going through a fairly high TO rate? Look at how consistent those teams do every year.
On the flip side of the coin-look at teams like the Cowboys, Jaguars, Broncos, Redskins, Jets, etc who think it's some great idea to keep out-spending other teams to build their own...look at how it's turned out for them.
And on top of that-look at other losses the Pats suffered this year-what if they didn't lose Brady? I can name at least 2-3 of their losses that would have been wins. What if they didn't lose Adalius Thomas(?and another DL?)-their much better pass rush would have netted another 2 or so wins. Or how about Rodney Harrison? At least another win right there.(To be frank, Harrison is a much bigger glue to this Pats secondary than Samuel)
Overall-you guys should be proud of this team for overcoming alot of adversity and finishing 11-5. Look at other teams in this league that had high expectations, but underperformed and are heading into the offseason with problems, problems, problems.(i.e. Cowboys, Jags, and Jets)
