And actually in light of actually writing down my thoughts on needs I'm thinking maybe instead of Duke Robinson we grab up William Moore with the first pick (I expect Mays to be gone). Might look like this instead (moved some guys around with your insight.) I added Rashad Johnson as a later round pick at Saftey....I kinda like Nic Harris as a saftey as well. Big for the position (well he'd be a SS anyway), a little slow, but good football speed, has played MLB for Oklahoma this year too.
#24: William Moore - S - Missouri
2nd round:
#48 (from SD) Mike Mickens - CB - Cincinnati
#56 Fenuki Tupou - OT - Oregon
3rd round:
#88 Rashad Johnson - S - Alabama
#97 (comp pick) Jarron Gilbert - DT - SD State
4th round:
#120: Bear Pascoe - TE - Fresno State
I like that draft a lot better, though I'm not sure Moore slides that far and I want to watch him in his bowl game I recorded to assess his fit for NE.
Just to give you some of my thoughts on the draft:
#24: Juaquin Iglesias, WR, Oklahoma to develop behind Randy Moss as a #3 and future #1. --- If some of the junior WR come out and push him to the second round I'm thinking LB Clint Sintim, Virginia (I want to try him at SILB, but he could also play OLB if he doesn't work out inside) or NT B.J. Raji, BC. If LB Brandon Spikes, Florida declares he would be the #1 option.
#48: If he's still here, Connor Barwin, LB, Cincinnati (I just plain like this kid at OLB, I think he could be better there than he is as a DE now. He'd also be a #3 TE and he's a STs Ace.)
#56: Augustus Parrish, OT, Kent State. --- Alternates would be Eric Woods, C, Louisville and Trevor Canfield, G, Cincinnati. (NFL Draft Scout has Fenuki at #42 -- Parrish or Fenuki would offer more versitility to move someone in at RG if needed.)
#88: Eric Norwood, LB, South Carolina. --- Alternates would be Rashad Johnson, Courtney Greene, S, Rutgers, or Chip Vaughn, S, Wake Forest. (Norwood is a kid whom I think could be another Bruschi at ILB. The Safeties are self explanatory.)
#97: Gilbert. (I think this kid could develop into another Jarvis Green.)
Based on the Patriots' Free Agency moves (mostly re-signing their own) this will change drastically.
- Currently I'm hoping Mike Wright is re-signed, if not B.J. Raji or his running mate Ron Brace will be more attractive to develop behind big Vince.
- I'm hoping James Sanders is re-signed.
- I'm expecting Russ Hochstein to be re-signed.
Needs: S, ILB
Future Needs: WR, DL, OL
Competition/Upgrades: OLB, OL, WR
