OK. Here's how this will work. I'll put up a nominations thread, and give people 24-48 hours to propose nominees. All you have to do is post the nominee; if you want to provide an explanation, too, feel free. I'll choose the best candidates, based on quantity AND quality of support, and then put up a new thread for voting.

= = = =

The first category is BEST DEFENSIVE PLAY. Any play in which the Patriots D was on the field is eligible.

Meriweather strip sack win sthe game in Seattle.

Great minds think alike.....:)

Of course!
With Seattle driving on a defense that struggled all year to come up with a big stop, this play seals a must have game and earns a nomination.

I don't think it's the best defensive play of the season, but Wheatley breaking up that Manning pass (and breaking his wrist in the process) was pretty ridiculous.

I never get sick of that clip.:D
AD nearly decapitates poor little Leon Washington in the process,
who had the unenviable task of trying to stop him.:p

It is definitely the Meriweather strip sack of Wallace.

It was perfect execution of a perfect play call with nothing less than the team's season on the line.

I also nominate AD owning Favre and Washington. The pic where AD is on top of Favre and Favre looks like he ****s a brick is awesome.

You cannot go past AD's domination of Farvequad. A thing of sheer beauty.

Honourable mention to Brandon "The Sack Man" Meriweather for his strip sack of Seneca Wallace.

The Thomas sack of Farve.. it was the play of the year.

While I certainly had a big smile on my face after the AD sack on Favre, the Meriweather strip sack against Seattle was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw this thread. :)

Would have to vote for Meriweather's strip sack, when the time comes, but I'll throw in another darkhorse candidate... Deltha O'Neal making what might have been his only valuable play this year, and knocking away Damon Huard's 4th down pass to Dwayne Bowe in Week 1 to preserve that win.

Consider this fourth'ed.

I'll 5th it!

Not only was it an awesome play,it's also a fitting way to 'honor' quarterhick's choke job last Sunday:mad: The pic of AD after he leveled Lord Favre sort of sums up how I feel:D

I like Mayo's goaline stick of Thomas Jones in the last Jest game. If I remember correctly it was a 3rd and goal. Jones looked like he left his feet to go over the top until he met Mayo who read it perfectly. Great play, no doubt tops on Mayo's highlight reel anyway.
