The vultures circle, here is another scribe prophesizing doom for our team next year, already believing that BB cannot over come the obstacles he will face even though we do not know what the obstacles are yet.. when the going gets tough BB will get going.. these guys need to find something else to write about..

Tuesday Huddle: Things may only get tougher for Belichick, Patriots

Bill Belichick deserves all of the credit he gets for establishing and maintaining the Patriots' elite status. He ranks among the greatest coaches in NFL history. But Belichick has needed every bit of Pioli's considerable contribution in identifying and acquiring college and pro talent. Pioli had a huge role in the Patriots' ability to land Brady and Cassel with sixth- and seventh-round draft picks, respectively.

The thought of the team not having Brady ready to play next season -- and potentially being without Cassel, McDaniels and Pioli -- seems like even more than Belichick could overcome.

Carrucci is displaying uneducated thinking here. BB and Pioli are nothing if not prepared. They have a plan in place for who will step in for Pioli. They are always prepared.

As for Brady, he'll be fine. Cassel will be dealt and O'Connell will be prepped to step in. They will also bring in a quality veteran QB. They system will continue w/o McDaniels.

This team is loaded with picks and had a lot of young players gain valuable experience this year. For example, Guyton and Wilhite played big roles for this team. Next year they will be quality reserves that see lots of time.

BB realizes that Brady has 5-6 quality years left and they will prepare for that.

Awesome that he does crack research. As any serious Pats fans knows, the late **** Reihban (sorry sp?) was responsible for recommending Brady, and who was it that was at Cassel's pro day that liked him? I know it was the Pats scouts at the pro day liked him, but who can say he was instrumental in selecting him? He was a 7th round flier. The Pats were smart enough to draft him so he didn't become an UDFA, but how you can say Pioli or BB or anyone was responsible for the choice without having been in the draft room is just lazy, agenda-driven pap.

Just another media bobble head with an agenda. Nothing to see.

Makes no sense to me whatsoever. As valuable as Pioli is, I doubt that he identified quality players alone without the output of other staff members. We'll feel the loss for sure, but there are other positives. The team will have a boatload of returnees from the injured list along with a good selection of draft picks. In the meantime, expect more draft picks and an improved salary cap position as some of the more pricey veterans such as Rodney and perhaps Bruschi do not return to the team. If Cassel goes, the team will get some draft picks. No way they'll be letting him go without compensation. My prediction is that Cassel stays with the team. In the meantime, a successful season of rookies will return more experienced than before. I say things look very good indeed.

He assumes Pioli, Brady, Cassel and McDaniels will all be gone. That would certainly be an unfavorable scenario, indeed it is a worst case scenario, but is also highly unlikely.

So, if the team doesn't have its top two QB's it may be in trouble? No Sh*t!?

There's no logic in the argument. It makes no sense to think that the Pats would be without Cassel if Brady isn't ready to go. Methinks this guy wants the Pats to go downhill and is trying to jam the square pegs in the round holes to predict it will happen.

Belichick will really struggle to get the team back to greatness if the entire squad from top to bottom is lost in a great earthquake during training camp and he's the only survivor.

And we'd still finish ahead of Buffalo.

mike

I think it's just that these "pundits" have zero fundamental understanding of the team and organization concept.

Is it any wonder why we have continual drama with TO/ McNabb/ LT? It's beyond his comrehension that an organization plans for departures because it's inevitable with successful organizations.

SoonerP,forgive my ignorance, who is the "pf" you are quoting?

Carrucci has been down on the Pats all year. In October, he was proclaiming that the Pats clearly aren't in the same class as the Bills (he was right, but for the wrong reasons) and the Bills would walk away with the division. In November he was saying that the Pats aren't good or consistent enough to compete for a playoff spot.

I am prepared to step in for Watson at TE if this unfortunate scenario unfurls Coach Belichick. I am almost certain that I will be able to drop at least as many balls as Ben and those the I do manage to catch, I promise to fumble away with the best of them :D

i dont understand how anyone can predict a team to get worse when they showed nothing but improvement throughout the season

secondly, how can you think a team is going to get worse when that team played without Tom brady for a full season and he will be 12 months off the injury when the season begins?

The Patriots are done:
Bledsloe injured against Jets.
Charlie Weis heads to Notre Dame.
Romeo Crennel off to Cleveland.
Ty Law on IR.
Asante Samuels signs with Philly.
Tom Brady lost for the season.
A. Thomas out for season.
Harrison goes to IR.
I know I'm missing another half dozen or so, but you get the point.

That article makes me feel better about the Patriots chances next season. I love it when this tool constantly debunks our team.

Let the "Can BB win without <Insert Patriots player or Personnel Here> ?" talk begin.
I have never seen someone like BB who the media always waits to sell short. The vultures were out with his cleveland winning % when brady went down but now no one is talking about way.
Pioli will be a huge loss but the team will move on.
